Our verdict on the Victoris
The Victoris is the most technically ambitious car Maruti sells, with petrol, CNG, a proper strong hybrid, AllGrip all-wheel drive and ADAS on a 2,600 mm wheelbase. The ZXI manual at ₹13.62 lakh is the variant that makes sense, and the ZXI (O) adds a panoramic sunroof for very little. The 1.5 petrol makes a modest 103 PS, so the hybrid is the better car to drive as well as to run, but it costs about ₹4.2 lakh more than the ZXI petrol, which is a lot of fuel. Twenty-one variants across ₹9.5 lakh also mean the badge tells you little about what someone paid. At the top, ₹19.99 lakh is well-equipped Creta and Seltos money.
Good things
- 2,600 mm wheelbase, close to a Creta’s 2,610 mm, so the back seat is roomy
- A real strong hybrid with an e-CVT, not a mild-hybrid badge
- AllGrip all-wheel drive is offered, which almost nothing else at this price does
- Six airbags, ESP and automatic climate control from the base trim
Could be better
- The 1.5 petrol makes 103 PS and 139 Nm at 4,300 rpm, modest for a 4,360 mm SUV
- Twenty-one variants spanning ₹9.5 lakh make honest comparison hard
- ADAS is limited to ZXI+ petrol automatics, not the hybrid or manuals
- Top strong-hybrid trims at ₹19.99 lakh are past a well-equipped Creta or Seltos

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: every powertrain, if you choose carefully
The Victoris sits between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara and is sold through Maruti’s Arena dealers. It is 4,360 mm long with a 2,600 mm wheelbase and 210 mm of ground clearance. Every version gets six airbags, ESP, a touchscreen and automatic climate control. It is the most technically varied car in Maruti’s range.
Engines are a 103 PS, 139 Nm 1.5 petrol with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic; a CNG version of the same engine with the tank under the floor; and a 1.5 strong hybrid with an e-CVT, claimed at 28.65 km/l. The petrol automatic is also offered with AllGrip Select all-wheel drive on ZXI+ trims.
There are six trims, LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI (O), ZXI+ and ZXI+ (O), and 21 single-tone variants from ₹10.50 lakh to ₹19.99 lakh ex-showroom. The (O) trims add a panoramic sunroof. Level 2 ADAS comes only on ZXI+ petrol automatics. Dual-tone paint costs ₹15,400 extra on ZXI and above. The strong hybrid is offered from VXI upward, but not on the LXI.
Which variant should you buy?
ZXI petrol manual at ₹13.62 lakh, or ZXI (O) at ₹13.69 lakh if you want the panoramic sunroof. ZXI+ adds the 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, head-up display and bigger screen for about ₹1.67 lakh more. Choose it only if those matter to you.
Petrol, CNG or strong hybrid?
The petrol is the cheapest to buy. CNG adds about ₹1.05 lakh and suits heavy city use, with the tank under the floor. The hybrid costs ₹4.2 lakh more at ZXI and claims 28.65 km/l; it is also the nicer car to drive. It pays back only at high annual mileage.
Manual or automatic?
The petrol automatic is a six-speed torque converter, ₹1.56 lakh more at ZXI. It is smooth, but claimed economy barely changes. If you want an automatic and drive a lot, compare it with the hybrid’s e-CVT, which costs more but uses far less fuel.
How does it compare with the Hyundai Creta?
The Creta has stronger engines including a diesel and a turbo petrol. The Victoris has a near-identical wheelbase plus CNG, a strong hybrid and all-wheel drive. For low running costs, the Victoris wins. For performance and a diesel, the Creta.
