Our verdict on the Urban Cruiser Taisor

The Taisor is a Fronx with Toyota styling details and a Toyota dealer. It is a sound car: roomy for its footprint, frugal with the 1.2, and genuinely brisk with the turbo. The catch is price. Trim for trim, the Taisor costs noticeably more than the Fronx, and the turbo starts only at G, ₹10.45 lakh, where the Fronx turbo starts below ₹9 lakh. Buy the Taisor if you value Toyota’s showroom and service experience, or if your Toyota dealer beats the Maruti quote. Otherwise the Fronx gives you the same car for less.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: the Fronx with a Toyota badge

The Urban Cruiser Taisor is built by Maruti Suzuki alongside the Fronx and sold by Toyota with a different grille, bumper details and badging. It is 3,995 mm long with 190 mm of ground clearance and a 308-litre boot. Under the skin it shares engines, gearboxes and most equipment with the Fronx, so the two cars drive the same.

The 1.2 petrol makes about 90 PS and comes with a five-speed manual or AMT, plus a factory CNG version on the E grade. The 1.0 turbo makes 100 PS and 147.6 Nm with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic, on G and V only. Prices run from ₹7.43 lakh to ₹12.78 lakh ex-showroom for single-tone paint.

Since August 2025 every Taisor has six airbags. S adds the touchscreen, S+ LED lamps and alloys, G the turbo engine, 9-inch screen and rear camera, and V the head-up display, 360-degree camera and cruise control. Dual-tone paint is available on the V grade for about ₹16,000 more. CNG is offered only on the E grade, without the touchscreen.

Taisor or Fronx?

They are the same car mechanically. The Fronx is cheaper trim for trim, and its turbo starts at Delta+, about ₹1.5 lakh below the Taisor G turbo. Choose the Taisor only if your Toyota dealer offers a better on-road deal, warranty or service experience.

1.2 or turbo?

The 1.2 is fine for city driving, with a manual or AMT. The turbo is quicker and its six-speed automatic is much smoother than the AMT. On the Taisor, the turbo costs ₹1.77 lakh more than the S+ manual, so take it only if you want a good automatic or drive on highways often.

Which variant should you buy?

S+ manual at ₹8.68 lakh for city buyers. G turbo automatic at ₹11.86 lakh if you want two pedals. V adds the head-up display, 360-degree camera and cruise control for about ₹90,000, which is pleasant but not essential.

Is the CNG worth it?

Only on the base E grade, at ₹8.45 lakh, so you give up the touchscreen and other comforts. If you want CNG with more equipment, the Fronx offers it on its Delta trim.
