Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella
Toyota's first electric car in India, built by Maruti Suzuki alongside its twin, the e Vitara. It is sold as a fully loaded E3 with a 61 kWh LFP battery and a 543 km claimed range. It suits buyers who want a well-equipped electric SUV from a brand with a large service network, and who accept paying more than the Maruti for the Toyota badge.

Our verdict on the Urban Cruiser Ebella
The Ebella is a well-equipped, sensible electric SUV: a large LFP battery, a credible claimed range, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and a long feature list. The problem is price. It is essentially the Maruti e Vitara's top version with a Toyota face, yet it costs over ₹3 lakh more, and at ₹23.60 lakh it competes with larger or quicker rivals such as the Creta Electric's top versions, Mahindra's electric SUVs and the MG ZS EV. DC charging speed is modest, the 193 Nm motor is not quick for the money, and there is no cheaper version. If Toyota's service, buyback and warranty package matter to you, it is a safe choice. Otherwise, compare the e Vitara Alpha first, and wait for a lower Ebella trim if Toyota prices one.
Good things
- Large 61 kWh LFP battery and a 543 km claimed range
- Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags and a 360-degree camera as standard
- Comfort kit includes ventilated seats, power driver seat and JBL audio
- Backed by Toyota's dealer network and ownership package
Could be better
- Over ₹3 lakh more than its twin, the Maruti e Vitara Alpha
- No cheaper version on sale yet
- 45 minutes for a 10–80% DC charge is slower than some rivals
- Ground clearance and boot space are not published by Toyota

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: the e Vitara with a Toyota badge and price
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is Toyota's first battery electric vehicle in India. It was shown in January 2026 and priced in late May 2026. Maruti Suzuki builds it in Gujarat on the same platform as the e Vitara, and the two share their battery, motor and most of their equipment. Toyota gives it its own hammerhead-style front, badging and colour names.
Toyota sells only the E3, with a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, a 128 kW front motor making 193 Nm, and an ARAI-certified range of 543 km. DC fast charging takes it from 10% to 80% in about 45 minutes, and it works with a 7.2 kW AC wallbox at home. Real-world range will be lower than the claim, especially at highway speeds.
Equipment is generous: Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise and lane keeping, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a 10-way power driver seat, a fixed panoramic roof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver display and JBL audio. The rear seat slides and reclines. At 4,285 mm long it is a mid-size SUV.
Ebella or Maruti e Vitara: which should I buy?
They are built side by side and share the battery, motor and most features. The e Vitara Alpha costs over ₹3 lakh less and Maruti also sells cheaper versions. Choose the Ebella only if the Toyota dealer near you is clearly better, or if Toyota's buyback and warranty offer matters to you. Compare both offers in writing.
Should I buy outright or take Battery-as-a-Service?
Toyota advertises the Ebella at ₹15.25 lakh plus ₹4.99 per km for the battery. That lowers the upfront cost, but you keep paying for every kilometre. For low annual mileage it can make sense; for heavy users, buying outright usually works out cheaper over a few years. Ask for the full terms before you sign.
Can I charge it at home?
Yes. It works with a 7.2 kW AC wallbox, and a portable charge cable is included. Overnight home charging is the cheapest way to run it. Confirm with your society or landlord, and have the electrician check your supply, before you book.
Will Toyota sell a cheaper Ebella?
Reports mention lower E1 and E2 trims and a smaller 49 kWh battery, but Toyota has not priced them. If your budget is closer to ₹18–20 lakh, look at the e Vitara's lower versions or wait for Toyota to announce more trims.
