Our verdict on the Sierra EV
The Sierra EV is one of the most complete electric SUVs under ₹26 lakh on paper. Range claims are strong, the cabin is roomy thanks to the 2,730 mm wheelbase, and every version gets six airbags, ESC, disc brakes all round and a big touchscreen. The lifetime battery warranty for the first owner adds peace of mind. Two cautions. First, Level 2 ADAS is reserved for the Empowered A versions at ₹24.79 lakh and up, which is late in the line-up. Second, this is a new model from a brand whose service quality varies by city, so check your local Tata EV workshop. Against the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti e Vitara, the Sierra EV offers more space and range for the money, and is worth a close look.
Good things
- Long claimed range of 566-665 km
- Spacious cabin with a 622-litre boot and a frunk on most versions
- Six airbags, ESC and all-round disc brakes as standard
- Lifetime battery warranty for the first private owner
Could be better
- Level 2 ADAS only from ₹24.79 lakh
- Wall-box charger costs ₹49,000 extra
- 75 kWh rear motor has less power than the 63 kWh one
- New model, so long-term reliability is unproven

Tata Sierra EV: long range in a roomy tata body
The Sierra EV shares its body with the petrol and diesel Sierra. It is 4,340 mm long with a 2,730 mm wheelbase and 205 mm of ground clearance, seats five, and has a 622-litre boot. Most versions also have a small front boot. It was launched in mid-2026 as Tata's seventh electric passenger car, and sits above the Curvv EV and below the Harrier EV in the range.
There are two batteries. The 63 kWh pack drives a 238 PS rear motor and has a claimed range of 566 km. The 75 kWh pack uses a 209 PS rear motor for a claimed 665 km. The top Empowered A AWD adds a 140 PS front motor for 306 PS and 504 Nm, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds and 624 km of range. All versions have a single-speed automatic and CCS2 fast charging.
Prices start at ₹18.79 lakh ex-showroom for the Pure 63 and go up to ₹25.99 lakh for the Empowered A AWD. Those prices include a portable charging cable; the 7.2 kW wall box is a ₹49,000 option on every variant. Tata quotes about 25 minutes for a 20 to 80 percent DC fast charge on a suitable charger.
63 kWh or 75 kWh?
If you mostly drive in town, the 63 kWh is enough, and it is quicker on paper because its motor is more powerful. If you take regular highway trips, the 75 kWh adds about 100 km of claimed range for around ₹1 lakh to ₹1.2 lakh. Tata quotes real-world range of about 440-460 km for the 63 and 510-530 km for the 75.
Is the AWD version worth it?
Only if you need the extra traction or want strong performance. It costs ₹1.2 lakh more than the Empowered A 75, loses some claimed range and some frunk space. For most buyers on city roads and highways, the rear-drive versions are enough.
Sierra EV or petrol/diesel Sierra?
The EV costs about ₹7 lakh more at the entry level, but running costs are much lower with home charging. If you drive over 1,500 km a month and can charge at home, the EV makes financial sense over time. Without home charging, the diesel Sierra is the more practical buy.
Do I need the wall-box charger option?
If you have a dedicated parking spot, yes. The included portable cable is slow, while the 7.2 kW wall box charges a 63 kWh pack from 10 to 100 percent in about 8.9 hours, which fits an overnight charge. Factor in the ₹49,000 when comparing prices.
