Hyundai Creta Electric
The electric version of India's best-known midsize SUV, with the familiar Creta body and cabin but a battery floor instead of an engine. Two battery sizes cover city commuters and highway users, and the long-range car claims 510 km. It suits Creta buyers who can charge at home and want an EV that feels normal rather than futuristic.

Our verdict on the Creta Electric
The Creta Electric is a sensible, low-drama EV. It drives and feels like a Creta, so the cabin, ride and service network are all familiar, and Hyundai's dealer reach is a real advantage over newer EV makers. The long-range battery is the one to have if you do highway runs; the smaller pack is fine for city use. The catch is price. A top long-range Creta Electric costs well above a loaded petrol Creta, and dedicated EVs such as the Mahindra BE 6 or Tata Curvv EV offer more space or range for similar money. Buy it if you want a known quantity with strong resale and home charging is sorted. If you cannot charge at home, the petrol Creta remains the easier choice.
Good things
- Familiar Creta cabin, ride and Hyundai's wide service network
- Long-range version claims 510 km and quick 0-100 km/h
- Well equipped from mid trims: V2L, Bose audio, frunk, Level 2 ADAS
- Six airbags, ESC and four-wheel disc brakes are standard
Could be better
- Top versions cost far more than a well-specified petrol Creta
- ADAS and 360 camera only on the Excellence trims
- Rear seat and boot are no bigger than the petrol car's
- Home wallbox charger is an extra on most versions

Hyundai Creta Electric: the creta you know, without the engine
Hyundai built the Creta Electric on the existing Creta body rather than a dedicated EV platform. That means the same 4,340 mm length and 2,610 mm wheelbase, a cabin layout Creta owners will recognise, and 433 litres of boot. The difference is under the floor: a 42 kWh or 51.4 kWh battery driving the front wheels through a single-speed gearbox, plus a small front boot on most trims.
The 42 kWh car makes 135 PS and claims 420 km. The long-range 51.4 kWh car makes 171 PS and claims 510 km. Like every EV's lab figure, expect noticeably less in real use, especially at sustained highway speeds. Both packs fast charge from 10 to 80% in about 39 minutes on a high-power DC charger. A 7.4 kW home wallbox takes six to seven hours for a full charge and is bundled with some versions for around ₹73,000 extra.
Equipment builds steadily. Even the base Executive has six airbags, ESC, four disc brakes, dual-zone climate control and wireless phone mirroring. Executive Tech adds a panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats. Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and memory seats arrive only at the Excellence trims. Knight versions add black styling and a dashcam; the Lounge adds a rear-seat entertainment screen.
Which battery should I choose?
If most of your driving is in the city and you charge at home, the 42 kWh pack is enough and saves money. If you regularly drive between cities, pick the 51.4 kWh long-range car. It has more power, a a battery heater on the Excellence LR trims and the bigger buffer you want for intercity trips.
Is it worth the premium over a petrol Creta?
Only if you drive a lot and can charge at home. A top long-range Creta Electric costs several lakh more than a loaded petrol Creta. Running costs per km are far lower on electricity, so heavy users recover part of the gap over five or six years. Light users will not, and should stick with petrol.
How does it compare with other electric SUVs?
Against the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and Maruti e Vitara, the Creta Electric is not the roomiest or longest-range option. Its strengths are a familiar, well-finished cabin, Hyundai's service reach and strong resale. Test drive the BE 6 if performance and range matter more to you than brand familiarity.
What does the dual-tone or HC tag in the price list mean?
Dual-tone means a black roof and trim pack, which costs about ₹15,000 more. HC means a 7.4 kW home wallbox charger is included, for about ₹73,000 more. Neither changes the car's features or range, so pick the charger only if you do not already have one sorted.
