Hyundai Alcazar
The three-row version of the Creta, with a longer body, a 2,760 mm wheelbase and a choice of six or seven seats. It suits families who need extra seats now and then and want Creta-style equipment and engines, but it is not a true seven-adult SUV.

Our verdict on the Alcazar
The Alcazar does exactly what it promises: it is a Creta with more room behind the second row. That third row is best for children or short trips, and with it in use the boot shrinks to 180 litres, so treat it as a car that can carry seven rather than one built for seven every day. Both engines suit it, and the diesel is the more efficient choice for a heavy car that will often be loaded. The equipment is generous, but the top trims pass ₹21 lakh, where an XUV700 or Safari offers a roomier third row. We would buy a Corporate diesel or a Prestige DCT and stop there.
Good things
- Diesel claims 20.4 km/l with a manual and 18.1 km/l with the automatic
- Six airbags and ESC across the range
- Panoramic sunroof from Prestige petrol and Corporate diesel
- Choice of six-seat captain chairs on Platinum and Signature
Could be better
- Third row is tight for adults, and the boot falls to 180 litres when it is in use
- ADAS only from Platinum, at about ₹19 lakh
- Top trims above ₹21 lakh overlap with roomier XUV700 and Safari variants
- Petrol is thirstier, with a claimed 17.5 km/l on the manual

Hyundai Alcazar: the Creta with an extra row for occasional use
The Alcazar shares its platform, engines and much of its cabin with the Creta, but it is longer at 4,560 mm and has a 2,760 mm wheelbase. That extra length goes into a third row, which makes it a seven-seater as standard, with a six-seat version offering captain chairs in the middle row on the upper trims. With all three rows up the boot holds 180 litres.
There are two engines. The 1.5 turbo petrol makes 160 PS and 253 Nm and comes with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT. The 1.5 diesel makes 250 Nm and comes with a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque-converter automatic. The diesel is the more frugal, with a claim of 20.4 km/l for the manual and 18.1 km/l for the automatic, against 17.5 km/l for the petrol manual.
The trims are Executive, Prestige, Corporate (diesel only), Platinum and Signature. Indicative ex-showroom prices run from ₹14.51 lakh to about ₹21.96 lakh once dual-tone paint, six-seat versions and special editions are included. Six airbags and ESC are standard, and Level 2 ADAS arrives with the Platinum.
Which variant should you buy?
For a diesel, the Corporate. It gets the panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and the touchscreen at ₹17.44 lakh for the manual. For a petrol automatic, the Prestige DCT at ₹18.08 lakh. Move to Platinum only if you want ADAS, leatherette and the Bose audio, which add about ₹1.5 lakh.
Petrol or diesel?
The diesel is about ₹1 lakh more at Executive level but is more efficient and better suited to a heavy car that is often full. The turbo petrol is quicker and quieter. Prices are level from Platinum upwards, so at the top of the range the choice is about how far you drive.
Six seats or seven?
The six-seat Platinum and Signature cost about ₹9,000 to ₹19,000 more and give two individual middle-row chairs with a walkway to the third row. It is easier to reach the back, but you lose a seat. Families who use the third row regularly may find it more practical.
How does it compare with the Mahindra XUV700?
The XUV700 is larger and has a roomier third row and more powerful engines, but costs more at equivalent trims. The Alcazar is easier to drive in town, cheaper to buy lower down the range and feels more polished inside. If seven adults will travel often, look at the XUV700 or the Tata Safari.
