Tata Tigor EV
Tata’s compact electric sedan, with a 26 kWh battery, a claimed 315 km range and a 316-litre boot. It suits a buyer who drives mostly in town, can charge at home, and specifically wants a sedan shape in an EV, which almost nothing else offers at this price.

Our verdict on the Tigor EV
The Tigor EV is a sensible, low-running-cost city car, but it is showing its age. A 26 kWh battery and a claimed 315 km mean a real-world range closer to 200 to 230 km, which is fine for commuting but limiting on the highway. It has only two airbags where newer Tata EVs have six, and the cabin feels dated. Its strengths are the sedan boot, a smooth and quiet drive, and very low per-kilometre costs if you charge at home. With the petrol Tigor already replaced by the Aeris, a new electric version looks close. Unless you need a car now, we would wait, or look at the Punch EV, which offers more range for similar money.
Good things
- Low running costs, especially with home charging
- Sedan body with a 316-litre boot, rare among EVs at this price
- Every variant gets the same battery, motor and range
- Smooth, quiet and easy to drive in traffic
Could be better
- Claimed 315 km, and real-world range nearer 200 to 230 km
- Only two airbags, where newer rivals have six
- DC fast charging to 80% takes about 65 minutes
- An older design that a replacement model may soon supersede

Tata Tigor EV: a city EV with a proper boot, near the end of its run
The Tigor EV is the electric version of Tata’s compact sedan. It is 3,993 mm long with a 2,450 mm wheelbase and 172 mm of ground clearance, and it keeps a usable 316-litre boot with the battery fitted under the floor. The battery carries an eight-year warranty, and all versions have automatic climate control and connected-car features.
Every variant uses the same 26 kWh battery and a motor making 75 PS and 170 Nm, with Drive and Sport modes and a claimed range of 315 km. It charges from a 15 A socket or a home wallbox, and on a CCS2 fast charger it reaches 80% in about 65 minutes. Tata holds a 4-star Global NCAP rating for it, with two airbags and ESC.
There are four variants: XE, XT, XZ Plus and XZ Plus LUX. Indicative ex-showroom prices run from ₹12.49 lakh to ₹13.75 lakh, and the extra money buys equipment such as a touchscreen, reverse camera and cruise control rather than more range. A new electric sedan is listed as upcoming, so check the timing before you buy.
Which variant should you buy?
The XZ Plus at ₹13.49 lakh. It adds the reverse camera, cruise control, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. The XT adds the touchscreen over the XE, and the LUX adds only leatherette, which is not worth ₹26,000.
Is the range enough?
For city use, yes. Expect around 200 to 230 km on a full charge in mixed driving, less on the highway or with the AC working hard. If you regularly drive between cities, a larger-battery EV or a CNG car will be less stressful.
Should you wait for the new model?
The petrol Tigor has already been replaced by the Aeris, and an updated electric sedan is listed as upcoming. If you do not need a car right away, waiting is likely to get you a more modern cabin, more safety equipment and better range.
How does it compare with the Tata Punch EV?
The Punch EV offers more range from its larger battery option, six airbags, a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and SUV ground clearance for similar money. The Tigor EV’s only clear advantage is the sedan boot. Most buyers will be better served by the Punch EV.
