Our verdict on the Tiago EV
The Tiago EV makes most sense as a second car or a city runabout for someone who can charge at home. The 24 kWh versions are the ones to look at: real-world range of around 200 km covers a week of city driving for most people, and the lifetime battery warranty for the first owner takes away a big worry. The 19.2 kWh Smart has a tempting price but a short range and a bare cabin. Two things hold it back. Electronic stability control is only on the top variant, and at just over ₹10 lakh that top variant is close to the Punch EV, which is a bigger car with a larger battery. If you need one car for city and highway, look at the Punch EV or a petrol hatchback instead.

Tata Tiago EV: a city electric with a sensible sweet spot
The Tiago EV was facelifted in 2026 with new styling, a redesigned cabin and a reworked variant line-up. It keeps the compact hatchback body, at 3,825 mm long with a 2,400 mm wheelbase and 165 mm of ground clearance. There are two batteries: 19.2 kWh with a 45 kW motor and 110 Nm, or 24 kWh with a 55 kW motor and 114 Nm. Tata claims 226 km and 285 km of range respectively on the official test cycle.
Prices start at ₹6.99 lakh ex-showroom for the Smart 19 and go up to ₹10.09 lakh for the Creative+ 24. All versions come with six airbags, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors and a 3.3 kW AC wall box charger. The touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and rear camera start at Pure+. Only the Creative+ 24 adds electronic stability control, LED headlamps, a 360-degree camera and cruise control.
Tata offers a lifetime battery warranty to the first owner on the 24 kWh pack, under its terms and conditions, while the 19.2 kWh pack gets 8 years or 1.6 lakh km. The motor carries 8 years or 1.6 lakh km and the car 3 years or 1.25 lakh km. A battery-rental scheme is also available, which lowers the purchase price in exchange for a per-kilometre charge.
Is 226 km of range enough?
For a daily city commute of 30 to 40 km with charging at home every night or two, yes. Real-world range will be lower than the claim, especially with the AC on and at highway speeds. If you travel between cities or cannot charge at home, the 24 kWh version or a petrol car makes more sense.
Should I pay extra for Creative+ 24?
We think so if your budget allows. It is the only version with electronic stability control, which helps in emergency swerves and on slippery roads. The LED headlamps, 360-degree camera and cruise control are useful extras. At ₹10.09 lakh, though, also test-drive the Punch EV, which starts nearby.
How long does charging take?
With the included 3.3 kW AC wall box, a full charge takes several hours, so plan on charging overnight. The smaller 19.2 kWh pack fills a little faster than the 24 kWh one. DC fast charging is supported and Tata says it can add around 100 km in roughly 18 minutes under ideal conditions.
Tiago EV or petrol Tiago?
The EV costs more to buy but much less per kilometre if you charge at home. If you drive over 1,000 km a month mostly in town, the EV's savings add up. For low mileage, long trips or no home charging, the petrol or CNG Tiago is the simpler and cheaper choice.
