Our verdict on the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class
The Maybach S 580 e is about the rear seat. Its 3,396 mm wheelbase gives far more legroom than the regular S-Class, and the executive seats, folding tables, massage, heated armrests and automatic rear doors make it a very comfortable place to work or rest. The plug-in hybrid drive is strong and quiet, and Mercedes claims up to 98 km on electric power, which covers most city days if you charge at home. Against it: the boot is only 330 litres, the price is high at ₹3.10 crore on the configurator (the model page shows ₹3.20 crore), and only four paints are listed. A regular S 450 e already offers excellent rear comfort for ₹2.20 crore. Choose the Maybach if you are always driven and want the best Mercedes can offer.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: the s-class built entirely around the back seat
The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e uses a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo petrol and an electric motor for a system output of 585 hp and 750 Nm, with 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic. It does 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The 21.96 kWh battery charges at up to 11 kW AC or 60 kW DC, and Mercedes claims up to 98 km of electric range.
At 5,484 mm long with a 3,396 mm wheelbase, it is 180 mm longer than the S-Class, with all the extra length given to the rear. Standard equipment includes executive rear seats with massage, folding tables, heated armrests, automatic rear comfort doors, MBUX rear-seat entertainment, the MBUX Superscreen, Burmester high-end 4D sound, AIRMATIC suspension, rear-axle steering and Maybach forged wheels.
It costs ₹3.10 crore ex-showroom according to the configurator. The boot holds 330 litres. Rivals at this level are few; the BMW i7 is the nearest electric alternative, at up to ₹2.65 crore. Mercedes-Benz India does not publish fuel-economy or ground clearance figures. Servicing is through Mercedes-Benz dealers, and tyres, air suspension parts and insurance on a car of this value are costly.
Maybach S-Class or regular S-Class?
The Maybach adds 180 mm of rear length, first-class seats with tables, rear comfort doors, all-wheel drive and a stronger hybrid system. The S 450 e costs ₹90 lakh less and is already very comfortable. Choose the Maybach only if rear space is the priority.
What does the electric range mean in practice?
Mercedes claims up to 98 km but does not name the test cycle. Real-world range will be lower, especially with the air-conditioning on. Charged at home, it should still cover a typical day in the city without using petrol.
