Mercedes-AMG C 43

The AMG version of the C-Class, with a 2.0 turbo four-cylinder making 408 HP, all-wheel drive and rear-axle steering. It suits an enthusiast who wants a fast, usable four-door with a full luxury cabin, and who accepts that the soundtrack and running costs come with a four-cylinder rather than the old V8.

Our verdict on the Mercedes-AMG C 43

The C 43 is a serious performance saloon: 408 HP, a claimed 4.6-second 0-100 km/h time, all-wheel drive, adaptive damping and rear-axle steering, plus Burmester sound and a panoramic roof. At ₹94.05 lakh ex-showroom it also sits close to an E-Class LWB, so think about what you want from the money. For an owner who loves to drive, it is a fast, practical car for daily use. For anyone who does not, the C 300 does the everyday job well and costs far less. Expect higher tyre, brake and insurance costs than a regular C-Class, and note that resale of performance saloons is a narrower market.

Good things

  • Very quick, with all-wheel-drive traction
  • Rear-axle steering helps in tight spaces
  • Full luxury equipment including Burmester sound
  • Usable four-door body

Could be better

  • Expensive next to the C 300 and E-Class LWB
  • Four-cylinder lacks the character of older AMG V8s
  • Higher tyre, brake and insurance costs
  • Mercedes-Benz India does not publish its boot size

Mercedes-AMG C 43: a four-door that does 0-100 in 4.6 seconds

The Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC is built on the current C-Class but with a 1,991 cc turbo petrol that makes 408 HP and 500 Nm, plus a 48-volt mild-hybrid boost of 14 HP. Power goes through a nine-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox to all four wheels. Mercedes-Benz claims 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a limited 250 km/h top speed.

It is longer than the regular car at 4,791 mm and has a 2,875 mm wheelbase. Standard equipment includes AMG bodystyling and Night Package, 19-inch AMG wheels, DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps, a panoramic sliding sunroof, adaptive damping, rear-axle steering, Burmester 3D sound, a 360-degree camera and AMG sports seats. Mercedes-Benz India lists it at ₹94.05 lakh ex-showroom in October 2026, ₹27 lakh more than a C 300. Buyers are paying for performance and hardware rather than extra space.

Is the C 43 too stiff for Indian roads?

It has adaptive damping, so the ride can be softened, but it rides on 19-inch wheels with low-profile tyres. Test it on your usual roads. Bad potholes and speed breakers need care to avoid wheel and tyre damage.

C 43 or C 300?

The C 300 is plenty quick for everyday use and much cheaper. The C 43 adds 150 HP, all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering, adaptive damping and Burmester sound. Choose it only if you will enjoy that performance often.

What will it cost to keep?

More than a regular C-Class. Performance tyres, larger brakes and insurance on a car this fast all cost more. Mercedes-Benz India does not publish fuel economy for the C 43, and how you drive will decide what you get.

Is there anything faster in the C-Class range?

Not in India. The C 43 is the only AMG C-Class listed by Mercedes-Benz India in October 2026.
