Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupé

The AMG GLC 43 Coupé is the fast, sloping-roof version of the GLC, built by Mercedes-AMG. A 2.0-litre four-cylinder with an electric turbocharger makes 421 HP, enough for 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. It suits a buyer who wants a quick, practical everyday SUV and does not need the rear headroom of a regular GLC.

Our verdict on the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupé

The GLC 43 Coupé is a quick car with a lot of hardware for the money: an electric turbocharger, rear-axle steering, adaptive AMG suspension, head-up display, DIGITAL LIGHT and Burmester 3D sound all come as standard. It is fast enough to embarrass many sports cars, yet keeps a 545-litre boot. The trade-offs are a four-cylinder that lacks the sound of older six-cylinder AMGs, a firmer ride, a lower rear roofline, and a price close to ₹1 crore. Weigh it against the regular GLC 300, which is far cheaper and roomier in the back, and against six-cylinder rivals at similar money. Buy it if you will use the performance; otherwise the GLC makes more sense.

Good things

  • Very quick: 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds
  • Rear-axle steering, adaptive suspension and head-up display included
  • Practical 545-litre boot
  • Wide paint choice, including MANUFAKTUR finishes

Could be better

  • Four-cylinder engine does not sound special
  • Sloping roof cuts rear headroom
  • Firm ride on broken roads
  • Close to ₹1 crore before options and taxes

Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupé: amg pace in an everyday coupé suv

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé is based on the current GLC Coupé. Its 2.0-litre turbo petrol uses an electrically driven turbocharger for quick response and makes 421 HP and 500 Nm, with a mild-hybrid starter-generator adding a brief boost. It drives all four wheels through a 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox and does 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, with a 250 km/h top speed.

Standard equipment includes AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive suspension, rear-axle steering, AMG DYNAMIC PLUS, red brake callipers, DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps, a head-up display, Burmester 3D sound, a panoramic sunroof, sports seats in man-made leather and microfibre, and a 360-degree camera. The car is 4,792 mm long with a 545-litre boot.

It costs ₹99.35 lakh ex-showroom, and MANUFAKTUR paints add between ₹90,000 and ₹2.96 lakh. Mercedes-Benz India does not publish fuel-economy or ground clearance figures. Expect higher tyre and brake costs than a regular GLC, and AMG servicing is best done at larger Mercedes workshops. Resale for AMG SUVs tends to depend heavily on condition and service history, so keep every record.

GLC 43 Coupé or regular GLC 300?

The GLC 300 costs ₹77 lakh, has more rear headroom and a bigger 620-litre boot, and is already well equipped. The GLC 43 adds far more performance, rear-axle steering, adaptive suspension and a head-up display. Pay the extra only if you value the driving experience.

Is a four-cylinder AMG worth it?

On paper, yes: 421 HP from 2.0 litres is a lot, and the electric turbo cuts lag. What you give up is the sound and smoothness of a six-cylinder. Drive it before you commit.

Is it comfortable on Indian roads?

The adaptive suspension has a comfort setting, but large wheels and sporty tuning make it firmer than a regular GLC. Mercedes does not publish ground clearance, so check your home and office ramps on a test drive.
