Our verdict on the Emeya

The Emeya is a quick, comfortable electric saloon with a long claimed range and plenty of technology. At the launch price of ₹2.34 crore it sits close to a Porsche Taycan 4S, which costs about ₹2.01 crore and is the sharper car to drive, with a much wider service network. The Emeya answers with a longer wheelbase, more rear room and a rarer badge. The doubts are about ownership rather than the car. Lotus has a single dealer group in India, resale values are unknown, and the price itself is unclear: Autocar India now lists ₹2.95 crore, against the ₹2.34 crore other sources still show. Ask for a written ex-showroom quote and check where the car will be serviced before you commit. If either answer is vague, the Taycan is the safer buy.

Good things

  • Strong performance and a long claimed range
  • Air suspension and a roomy rear seat for a low saloon
  • 800-volt charging for short stops on fast chargers
  • Distinctive and rare on Indian roads

Could be better

  • Price unclear: listings show ₹2.34 crore and ₹2.95 crore
  • Only the entry version is priced in India
  • Single dealer group; service reach outside Delhi is limited
  • Low-slung body; ground clearance not published

Lotus Emeya: the electric grand tourer that rivals the Taycan

The Emeya is Lotus's four-door electric car, launched in India in January 2025 alongside the Emira. It is a large, low fastback, 5,139 mm long and 1,459 mm tall on a 3,069 mm wheelbase, with five seats as standard. Lotus describes it as a hyper-GT, and it shares its 800-volt technology and much of its cabin with the Eletre SUV.

The version on sale here has two motors producing 612 PS and 710 Nm, all-wheel drive and a 102 kWh battery. Lotus claims 0-100 km/h in 4.15 seconds, a top speed of 250 km/h and a WLTP range of 580-610 km. Air suspension with adaptive dampers is standard, as are a 15.1-inch OLED touchscreen, a large head-up display, KEF audio and four-zone climate control. More powerful Emeya S and R versions exist abroad but were never priced in India.

Lotus announced an India price of ₹2.34 crore ex-showroom at launch, and most listings still show it, but Autocar India's page now shows ₹2.95 crore without explanation. Lotus does not publish rupee prices on its site. The car is built in China, so the India-UK and India-EU trade deals will not lower its price. Sales and service are through Exclusive Motors in New Delhi.

Emeya or Porsche Taycan?

The Taycan 4S costs about ₹2.01 crore, drives with more precision and has far wider service support. The Emeya has a longer wheelbase, which helps rear space, and a rarer badge. For most buyers the Taycan is the safer choice; the Emeya suits someone who values comfort and exclusivity.

What is the real price?

Lotus announced ₹2.34 crore ex-showroom in January 2025, and CarWale and CarDekho still show it. Autocar India now lists ₹2.95 crore. Lotus does not publish prices itself, so get a written ex-showroom quote from the dealer before booking.

Is it practical as a family car?

More than most low saloons. The long wheelbase gives a usable rear seat, and there is a front trunk as well as a rear boot. The low body needs care over speed breakers, and Lotus India does not publish a ground clearance figure.
