Lotus Emira
The Emira is Lotus's mid-engined two-seat sports car and its last petrol model. In India the priced version is the Emira Turbo, with a 365 PS 2.0-litre turbo four and an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox driving the rear wheels. It suits an enthusiast who values steering feel and a light car more than outright power, and who can live with a Delhi-based dealer.

Our verdict on the Emira
The Emira is a proper driver's car, light and mid-engined, with the steering feel Lotus is known for. The Turbo is quick enough for any Indian road and its dual-clutch gearbox makes it easy to drive in traffic. The problem is the price. At about ₹3.22 crore ex-showroom, a figure CarWale puts at ₹3.05 crore, it costs more than a Porsche 911 Carrera at ₹2.11 crore, which is faster, more practical and backed by many more service centres. The Emira is also low, has little luggage space, and Lotus sells it through a single dealer group in Delhi. It is UK-built, so the India-UK trade agreement may lower its price over time, though we found no change yet. Buy it if you want something rarer than a Porsche and can accept the compromises. Otherwise the 911 is the sensible choice.
Good things
- Light, mid-engined layout with sharp handling
- Easy-going dual-clutch gearbox for daily driving
- Striking looks and rare on Indian roads
- Modern cabin with wireless phone mirroring
Could be better
- Costs more than a Porsche 911 Carrera
- Price unclear: listings show ₹3.22 crore and about ₹3.05 crore
- Very little luggage space; low ride height
- Single dealer group; service outside Delhi is limited

Lotus Emira: a driver's car at a price that needs a reason
The Emira is a two-seat, mid-engined sports coupe built at Lotus's factory in Hethel, England. It went on sale in India in January 2025 alongside the Emeya. Lotus launched it as its last purely petrol car. It is built around a bonded aluminium chassis with double-wishbone suspension, as Lotus sports cars have been for decades.
The Emira Turbo uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG, making 365 PS and 430 Nm, with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox driving the rear wheels. Lotus claims 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 275 km/h, at a kerb weight of 1,446 kg. The car is 4,412 mm long and only 1,225 mm tall. Standard kit includes touring suspension, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver display and wireless phone mirroring.
Lotus India also lists a Turbo SE, a manual V6 SE, Racing Line versions and the 420 Sport, but no Indian price is published for them. The Turbo's price is given as ₹3.22 crore ex-showroom by Lotus at launch and by Autocar India, but as about ₹3.05 crore by CarWale. Sales and service are through Exclusive Motors in New Delhi.
Emira or Porsche 911?
The 911 Carrera costs about ₹2.11 crore, is faster, has small rear seats and much better service reach. The Emira is lighter, mid-engined and far rarer. On value and ownership the Porsche wins clearly; the Emira is for someone who wants a different experience.
Will the India-UK trade deal make it cheaper?
Possibly, over time. The Emira is built in the UK, and the agreement that came into force in July 2026 cuts import duty on a limited quota of UK cars in stages. We found no report of a Lotus India price change, so ask the dealer whether any benefit has been passed on.
Can I get the V6 with a manual gearbox in India?
Lotus India's website lists the V6 SE with a six-speed manual, and it was named at the India launch, but no Indian price for it is published. Ask Exclusive Motors whether it can be ordered and at what price.
Is it usable every day?
With care. The dual-clutch gearbox is easy in traffic and the cabin is modern, but the car is low, luggage space is small and Lotus does not publish a ground clearance figure. Speed breakers and steep ramps need caution.
