Lotus Eletre

The Eletre is Lotus's large electric SUV, a five-seater just over 5.1 metres long with a 112 kWh battery and two motors. The entry Eletre and the Eletre S make 612 PS, while the Eletre R makes 918 PS. It suits a buyer who wants a fast, well-equipped electric SUV with a rarer badge than Porsche or BMW, and who lives near Lotus's Delhi dealer.

Our verdict on the Eletre

The Eletre is quick, comfortable and full of technology, and the 612 PS versions are already faster than most owners will ever need. We would pick the Eletre S, which keeps the long range of the entry car and adds the equipment that makes the cabin feel special. The R is very fast but gives up range and costs ₹44 lakh more than the entry car. The concerns are practical ones. Lotus is a small brand in India, sold through a single dealer group in Delhi, so check service support where you live. Resale is untested, and the trim names on Lotus's own site have changed since the Indian prices were set, so ask the dealer exactly which specification you are getting. A Porsche Cayenne Electric costs less and has a much wider service network.

Good things

  • Strong performance even in the entry version
  • Long claimed range and 800-volt fast charging
  • Air suspension gives a comfortable ride; roomy rear seat
  • Rare badge in a segment full of German SUVs

Could be better

  • Sold and serviced through very few outlets in India
  • Resale value is hard to predict
  • Lotus India does not publish prices; current trims may differ from the listed ones
  • Eletre R gives up range for performance most owners will not use

Lotus Eletre: a fast electric SUV with a rare badge

The Eletre was Lotus's first SUV and the car it relaunched the brand in India with, in November 2023. It is a large five-seat electric SUV, 5,103 mm long with a 3,019 mm wheelbase. Every version has two motors and all-wheel drive, a 112 kWh battery on an 800-volt system and air suspension with adaptive dampers. The cabin has a 15.1-inch OLED touchscreen, a head-up display and four-zone climate control.

The entry Eletre and the Eletre S both make 612 PS and 710 Nm, reach 100 km/h in a claimed 4.5 seconds and have a WLTP range of up to 600 km. The S adds KEF Reference audio, an electrochromic glass roof and 22-inch wheels. The Eletre R has a more powerful rear motor with a two-speed gearbox for 918 PS and 985 Nm, with active anti-roll bars and rear-wheel steering, but its WLTP range falls to about 490 km.

Indian prices run from ₹2.55 crore to ₹2.99 crore ex-showroom. These are the launch prices, and Lotus has since renamed its trims as 600 and 900 models on its own website without publishing rupee prices, so confirm the current specification and price with the dealer. Lotus is sold through Exclusive Motors, with its showroom in New Delhi.

Is the Eletre R worth ₹44 lakh more than the entry Eletre?

Only if you want the performance. The R is far quicker and adds rear-wheel steering, active anti-roll bars and carbon trim, but its claimed range drops from about 600 km to 490 km. The Eletre S is the better buy for most owners.

Will the India-UK or India-EU trade deals make it cheaper?

Unlikely. Although Lotus is a British brand, the Eletre is built in China, so neither agreement covers it. We found no report of an Eletre price change in India in 2026.

How does it compare with a Porsche Cayenne Electric?

The Cayenne Electric starts lower, at about ₹1.77 crore, and Porsche has far more service centres in India. The Eletre is longer, more powerful in entry form and a much rarer sight. If service access matters, the Porsche is the safer choice.

What range can I expect in Indian conditions?

Lotus quotes up to 600 km on the WLTP cycle for the 612 PS versions. With air conditioning on and highway speeds, expect noticeably less. Plan for a home wall-box charger, since that is where most charging will happen.
