Our verdict on the Taycan
The Taycan is still one of the best-driving electric cars on sale. It steers and brakes like a Porsche, the air suspension rides well, and the updated battery gives a claimed range of over 600 km. The 4S is the one to buy. At ₹2.01 crore it has the same battery as the Turbo and most of the useful kit. The Black Edition adds bigger wheels, better headlights and black trim for about ₹8.75 lakh more, which is mostly about looks. The Turbo is extraordinarily fast but costs ₹2.74 crore. Weak points are the low 127 mm ground clearance, a cramped rear seat for tall adults and a modest boot. Against an Audi RS e-tron GT, which shares its platform, the Taycan is the more polished car. If you need a roomier luxury electric car, look at a Mercedes EQS or the Cayenne Electric.

Porsche Taycan: the electric car that drives like a porsche
The Taycan was Porsche's first electric car, and the current version is the updated model with a bigger battery and more power. Porsche India's configurator lists three versions of the saloon. All have two motors and all-wheel drive, a 105 kWh (gross) Performance Battery Plus, adaptive air suspension and a two-speed gearbox on the rear motor.
The 4S makes 598 PS with Launch Control overboost and reaches 100 km/h in a claimed 3.7 seconds. The Black Edition is the same car with 21-inch wheels, HD-Matrix LED headlights and black exterior trim. The Turbo makes 884 PS on overboost and does 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. Every version charges at up to 320 kW, which Porsche says takes 10-80% in 18 minutes.
The car is 4,963 mm long, 1,379 mm tall and has a 2,900 mm wheelbase. Boot space is 407 litres at the rear plus 81 litres under the bonnet. Prices run from ₹2.01 crore for the 4S to ₹2.74 crore for the Turbo. Service is only at Porsche centres in larger cities. Plan for a wall-box charger at home before delivery, since that is how most owners will charge.
Is the Taycan Turbo worth ₹74 lakh more than the 4S?
Not for most owners. The 4S has the same battery and charging speed, air suspension and most of the comfort kit. The Turbo adds a huge jump in power, a head-up display, torque vectoring and Push-to-Pass. You will rarely use that pace on Indian roads.
What range can I expect in India?
Porsche quotes WLTP ranges of up to roughly 635 km. At steady highway speeds with the air conditioning on, expect noticeably less. Most Indian public chargers are 60-120 kW, so real charging stops will take longer than the claimed 18 minutes.
Is it practical as a family car?
Only partly. There are four individual seats as standard, the rear is low and tight on headroom for tall adults, and the boot is modest. If you carry adults in the back often, a Cayenne Electric or Mercedes EQS is more comfortable.
How does it compare with the Audi RS e-tron GT?
They share a platform. The Taycan feels slightly more precise, while the Audi has its own styling and is sold through a wider dealer network. Drive both if you are choosing between them.
