Porsche Macan
The petrol Macan is the cheapest way into a new Porsche in India, and the last Macan you can buy with an engine. It pairs a 265 PS 2.0 turbo four with a 7-speed PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive. It suits a buyer who wants a sharp-driving compact luxury SUV and does not want to rely on public charging.

Our verdict on the Macan
The petrol Macan is still one of the best-driving SUVs at this money. The steering is precise, the PDK gearbox is quick, and it feels tied down in a way most rivals do not. What the ₹91.09 lakh buys, though, is a fairly plain base car. Paint beyond white or black costs extra, the reversing camera is basic, and items like Surround View, a panoramic roof and the larger sound system are options. The cabin is also older than the newer Macan Electric's. Against a BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC you pay more for less kit and a smaller rear seat. Buy it if driving matters more than gadgets and you want a petrol Porsche while you still can. If you can charge at home, the Macan Electric is the newer, roomier car.
Good things
- Sharp steering and composed handling for an SUV
- Quick PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard
- No charging worries: a 75-litre tank and petrol stations everywhere
- Lowest entry price to a new Porsche in India
Could be better
- Base car is sparsely equipped for ₹91 lakh; options add up quickly
- Rear seat and boot are tighter than a BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC
- Older cabin and infotainment than the Macan Electric
- Thirsty in town: claimed figures are around 10 km/l at best

Porsche Macan: the last petrol macan
The Macan has been Porsche's best-selling model in India for years, and this petrol version now sits alongside the newer Macan Electric. Porsche India sells it in a single form: a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 265 PS and 400 Nm, a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive. The claimed 0-100 km/h time is 6.4 seconds.
It is 4,726 mm long with a 2,807 mm wheelbase, so it is a compact SUV by luxury standards. The boot holds 488 litres up to the rear seat backs. Standard kit covers LED headlights with Porsche's dynamic lighting, 8-way electric front seats, three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, and wireless charging. Much of what buyers expect at this price is on the options list.
At ₹91.09 lakh ex-showroom it is the cheapest new Porsche in India. Service is limited to Porsche centres in the larger metros, so check how far your nearest one is before you buy. Running costs are those of a premium German SUV: tyres, brakes and parts are not cheap. Porsche builds each car to order, so ask your dealer about delivery times before you add a long list of options.
Should I buy the petrol Macan or the Macan Electric?
If you can charge at home or at work, the Macan Electric is the newer car, with more space, a better cabin and much lower running costs per kilometre. It costs about ₹30 lakh more to start. Pick the petrol Macan if you drive long distances outside cities, cannot charge easily, or simply want an engine.
How does it compare with a BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC?
The Macan is the better car to drive, with sharper steering and a quicker gearbox. The BMW and Mercedes give you more rear-seat room, more standard equipment and a wider service network for less money. If you mostly sit in the back or drive in traffic, the German rivals make more sense.
What mileage can I expect?
Porsche quotes WLTP consumption that works out to roughly 9.5-10 km/l. In Indian city traffic, expect noticeably less. Porsche India does not publish an ARAI figure for this car.
Which options are worth paying for?
We would add Surround View (about ₹1.16 lakh) because the standard camera is basic, and the panoramic roof if you want a brighter cabin. Skip expensive paints and cosmetic packs; they add lakhs and do little for resale.
