Our verdict on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS
The Maybach GLS 600 delivers what its buyers want: a quiet, smooth V8, a rear cabin with reclining, ventilated executive seats, its own climate control and screens, and plenty of Maybach detail. At ₹2.75 crore it costs less than most ultra-luxury SUVs. The Night Series adds 23-inch wheels and darker trim for about ₹32 lakh, which is purely a matter of taste. The Celebration Edition at ₹4.10 crore adds E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, a first-class rear with a refrigerator and folding tables, and forged wheels; it is a lot of money for those extras. The regular GLS 450d gives most of the space for far less. If you want the same rear comfort in an electric SUV, the Maybach EQS SUV starts at ₹2.40 crore.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC uses a 4.0-litre V8 turbo petrol with 557 HP and 770 Nm, supported by a mild-hybrid starter-generator. It drives all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic and does 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. It is 5,208 mm long with a 3,135 mm wheelbase, a 520-litre boot and a 90-litre tank.
Standard equipment includes executive rear seats with multicontour adjustment, ventilation and heating, an electrically adjustable front passenger seat for more rear legroom, MBUX rear-seat entertainment, a rear tablet, rear climate control, Burmester sound, a head-up display, 22-inch Maybach wheels, MAGIC VISION CONTROL wipers and GUARD 360 vehicle protection.
The GLS 600 costs ₹2.75 crore, the Night Series ₹3.07 crore and the Celebration Edition ₹4.10 crore, ex-showroom. Rivals include the Bentley Bentayga, Range Rover and BMW X7. Mercedes-Benz India does not publish fuel-economy or ground clearance figures. Servicing is through Mercedes-Benz dealers, mainly in larger cities.
Is the Night Series worth ₹32 lakh more?
Only if you prefer its look. It adds 23-inch wheels, Pearl Black nappa leather, darker wood and a black roof liner, but the engine and rear comfort are the same as the GLS 600.
What does the Celebration Edition add?
E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension, a first-class rear compartment with a refrigerator, folding tables and champagne flute holders, crystal white leather and forged 23-inch wheels. It costs ₹1.35 crore more than the GLS 600.
