Our verdict on the Bentayga

The Bentayga is a very fast, very well made SUV with a cabin few rivals match for craftsmanship. The V8 suits Indian highways, and the EWB is a proper alternative to a chauffeur-driven limousine. The catch right now is price. Duty on UK-built petrol cars fell after the India-UK trade deal took effect on 15 July 2026, and Bentley dealers are reported to be taking orders at lower prices, but Bentley has not published new figures. The numbers on this page are estimates, so get a written dealer quote before you commit, and ask whether your car falls within the reduced-duty quota. Beyond that, expect high insurance, expensive tyres and servicing, and a dealer network limited to a few metros. If you can get the reported price, it now undercuts the Lamborghini Urus SE and costs about the same as an Aston Martin DBX.

Bentley Bentayga: a hand-built SUV at a lower price, for now

The Bentayga is Bentley's SUV. The India cars use a 3,996 cc twin-turbo V8 making 550 PS and 770 Nm, with all-wheel drive. Bentley claims 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h. The standard car is 5,125 mm long on a 2,995 mm wheelbase and carries 484 litres of luggage with five seats in place. Four-seat and 4+1 layouts are also offered.

The EWB (extended wheelbase) stretches the wheelbase to 3,175 mm and the body to 5,305 mm. All of the extra length goes into the rear cabin. It adds all-wheel steering, so it turns tighter than you might expect, and Bentley's Dynamic Ride anti-roll system. The trade-off is a smaller 380-litre boot and slightly slower acceleration, at 4.6 seconds to 100 km/h.

Prices are in flux. The India-UK trade deal, in force since 15 July 2026, cut import duty on qualifying UK-built petrol cars from 110% to 30% within a quota. Autocar India reported on 28 July 2026 that Bentley dealers were taking Bentayga orders at lower prices, and estimated about ₹4.20 crore for the EWB (from ₹5.90 crore) and ₹3.75 crore for the standard car. Bentley has not confirmed these figures, so treat them as a guide and get a dealer quote.

Will the Bentayga really be cheaper after the India-UK trade deal?

Very likely, because the V8 Bentayga is a UK-built petrol car above 3,000 cc, which the deal covers. But the 30% duty applies only within a quota, and Bentley has not published new prices. Ask the dealer for a written quote and confirm whether your car is imported under the reduced duty.

Standard Bentayga or EWB?

Buy the EWB if you are driven more than you drive. It gives far more rear legroom and adds all-wheel steering. If you drive yourself and need luggage space, the standard car is lighter, slightly quicker and has a bigger boot, for an estimated ₹45 lakh less.

Is the Bentayga Hybrid or Speed sold in India?

Bentley sells both globally and Autocar India says the full range can be ordered here, but we found no Indian price for them. The hybrid is also not covered by the trade deal's duty cut for its first five years. Ask the dealer if you want either.

What does it cost to run?

Bentley's WLTP figure is 13.0 litres per 100 km, about 7.7 km/l, and real-world use in traffic will be worse. Add costly insurance, tyres and brakes. Bentley's dealer network in India is small, so check how far your nearest workshop is before buying.
