Our verdict on the DBX
The DBX S is the most practical Aston Martin and, after the India-UK trade deal, one of the better-value super-SUVs on sale here. Its 727 PS V8 gives it Lamborghini Urus pace, and the air suspension rises enough for broken roads and steep ramps. The cabin seats five adults, and the boot is large. The weaknesses are running costs, a thirsty engine that averages about 7 km/l on the WLTP cycle and less in town, and a very small dealer network. Resale for Aston Martin is softer than for Porsche or Lamborghini. If you want a fast SUV that does not shout as loudly as an Urus, and you live near a dealer, the DBX S is easy to recommend at its new price. If you want lower ownership risk, a top Porsche Cayenne costs far less and is much easier to service.
Good things
- Super-SUV performance with a usable five-seat cabin
- Air suspension with real ground clearance for Indian roads
- 638-litre boot
- Large price cut after the India-UK trade deal
Could be better
- Heavy fuel use, about 7 km/l even on the WLTP cycle
- Very small Aston Martin dealer network in India
- Resale is softer than Porsche or Lamborghini
- Android Auto is wired only

Aston Martin DBX: super-SUV pace with room for five
The DBX is Aston Martin's only SUV and its most practical car. India gets the DBX S, which uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 tuned to 727 PS and 900 Nm. A nine-speed wet-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive that can send all torque to the rear wheels deliver 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, according to Aston Martin.
It costs ₹4.15 crore, indicative ex-showroom, after lower import duty under the India-UK trade deal. Adaptive air suspension, active anti-roll bars and carbon ceramic brakes are standard. Ground clearance is 190 mm in the normal mode and rises to 235 mm in off-road mode, which matters on rough roads and steep basement ramps.
Inside there are five proper seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch driver display. Apple CarPlay is wireless but Android Auto needs a cable. The boot holds 638 litres, more than most rivals in this price band, and the rear bench takes adults in comfort, which no other Aston Martin can claim.
DBX S or Lamborghini Urus?
Both are V8 super-SUVs with similar pace. The Urus has a stronger dealer network and better resale in India, but it costs more. The DBX S is calmer to live with, has a larger boot and now costs less after the trade deal. If resale matters most, choose the Lamborghini; for value, the Aston Martin.
Can it handle Indian roads?
Better than any other Aston Martin. The air suspension gives 190 mm of clearance as standard and 235 mm when raised. Large wheels and low-profile tyres still need care over potholes, and tyre replacement is costly.
What are the running costs like?
Aston Martin's WLTP figure is about 7 km/l, and city use will be worse. The 85-litre tank gives a modest range. Brakes, tyres and air suspension parts are expensive, and servicing is through very few dealers, so check pick-up support before buying.
