Lamborghini Urus SE
The Urus SE is Lamborghini's only SUV and, in India, the only Urus on sale. It pairs the familiar 4.0 twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor for 800 PS, and adds a plug-in battery that lets it run short distances on electricity alone. It suits a buyer who wants supercar pace with five seats and a usable boot, and can live with supercar running costs.

There is only one Urus on sale, so the question is whether it is worth ₹4.57 crore before options. If you need four real seats and a boot, yes; it is the most usable car in Lamborghini's range. Budget heavily for options and insurance.

Our verdict on the Urus SE
The Urus SE is the sensible Lamborghini, if that phrase means anything at this price. It seats five, carries luggage and copes with Indian roads far better than any low-slung supercar. The hybrid system adds power and lets you creep through a housing society on electricity, but this is still a 2.5-tonne SUV that will drink fuel when driven hard. At ₹4.57 crore ex-showroom it costs much more than a Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, which is nearly as quick and easier to own. Buy the Urus if the badge and the drama matter to you; if you mainly want a fast, practical luxury SUV, the Porsche or a Range Rover Sport makes more financial sense.
Good things
- Huge performance in a body that still seats five and carries luggage
- Plug-in hybrid allows quiet electric running in town
- High seating position and SUV ground clearance suit Indian roads better than a supercar
Could be better
- Real-world fuel use stays high once the battery is flat
- Lamborghini service centres are limited to a few metros
- Options and personalisation can add a large sum to the ex-showroom price
- Much dearer than rivals such as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid

Lamborghini Urus SE: a hybrid super-SUV you can use daily
The Urus SE replaced both the Urus S and Urus Performante in India. Instead of a straight V8, it uses Lamborghini's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 together with an electric motor inside the 8-speed automatic gearbox. Combined output is 800 PS and 950 Nm, and Lamborghini claims 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a 312 km/h top speed. Power goes to all four wheels.
The 25.9 kWh battery sits under the boot floor, which is why boot space is 454 litres rather than the larger figure quoted for older Urus models. It is still a big, square load area for a car this fast. The cabin seats five, and the long 3,003 mm wheelbase means adults fit in the back without complaint.
Running costs are the catch. Insurance on a car of this value is a large annual bill, tyres for 21-inch and larger wheels are expensive, and Lamborghini dealers are found only in a few big cities. Resale for well-kept Urus models has historically been strong, but buyers should still expect a sizeable loss over the first few years.
How far can the Urus SE go on electricity alone?
The widely reported claim is about 60 km, though Lamborghini's own brochure says final WLTP data was not available at publication. In practice expect less, especially in Indian heat with the air-conditioning running hard. Think of it as enough for short city trips if you charge at home every night.
What fuel economy should I expect?
With the battery flat, Lamborghini's WLTP figure is 12.9 litres per 100 km, or about 7.8 km/l. Real-world use with spirited driving will be worse. The official weighted figure that assumes regular charging looks far better on paper but does not reflect how most owners will drive.
Should I look at a Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid instead?
If you want speed and practicality and do not need the Lamborghini badge, yes. The Porsche uses closely related hardware, has a wider service network in India and costs far less. The Urus is the more dramatic car to look at and to drive, and that is what the extra money buys.
