Lamborghini Temerario

The Temerario replaced the Huracán as Lamborghini's mid-engined two-seater. A new twin-turbo V8 that revs to 10,000 rpm works with three electric motors for 920 PS, and Lamborghini claims 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. It suits a buyer who wants a full supercar for weekend drives and track days, not a daily car.

Our verdict on the Temerario

The Temerario is a big step up from the Huracán in power and technology, and the twin-turbo hybrid V8 gives it pace that matches far dearer cars. It is also more spacious inside than the car it replaces. But this is a 1.2-metre-tall supercar with no published ground clearance figure, and Indian speed breakers and broken roads will test your patience. Running costs are steep, service is available only in a few metros, and options can add a large amount to the ₹6 crore ex-showroom price. If you plan to use the car mainly on the road, the Ferrari 296 GTB costs less and is equally quick in everyday conditions. Buy the Temerario for the V8 character and track ability, not for convenience.

Good things

  • Huge performance from a high-revving V8 plus electric assistance
  • All-wheel drive helps put the power down on imperfect surfaces
  • Roomier cabin than the Huracán it replaces

Could be better

  • Low body and long nose need care over Indian speed breakers
  • Electric-only range is very short, so the hybrid does little for running costs
  • Few Lamborghini service points outside the big metros
  • Dearer than the Ferrari 296 GTB, which is just as fast on real roads

Lamborghini Temerario: the Huracán's hybrid successor

The Temerario is the second of Lamborghini's hybrid supercars after the Revuelto. Its new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 makes 800 PS on its own and revs past 9,000 rpm; with three electric motors the system output rises to 920 PS. Two motors drive the front wheels and one sits between engine and the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, so the car has all-wheel drive and torque vectoring at the front.

The battery is only 3.8 kWh. It exists mainly to boost performance and allow short, quiet manoeuvres, not long electric drives. The chassis is an aluminium spaceframe, and Lamborghini fits carbon-ceramic brakes and magnetic adaptive dampers as standard. An optional Alleggerita package adds carbon wheels and aero parts, cutting more than 25 kg.

For Indian owners, the practical questions are ground clearance, service access and cost. Lamborghini does not publish a ground clearance figure, and at 1,201 mm tall the car sits low. Dealers and workshops are limited to a few metro cities, insurance is a large yearly cost, and tyres and brakes are expensive to replace.

Is the Temerario a plug-in hybrid I can drive on electricity?

Only for short distances. The 3.8 kWh battery is small, so treat electric mode as a way to leave home quietly rather than a way to save fuel. Lamborghini's WLTP figure with a discharged battery is 14.0 litres per 100 km, roughly 7 km/l.

Can it cope with Indian roads?

With care. It is a low supercar, and Lamborghini does not publish ground clearance. Plan your routes, take speed breakers slowly and angled, and ask the dealer about any nose-lift system on your order before you sign.

Temerario or Ferrari 296 GTB?

Both are mid-engined hybrid supercars. The Temerario has the bigger V8, all-wheel drive and more power; the 296 GTB has a V6, rear-wheel drive and costs less in India. For road use the Ferrari is the better value. For track days and V8 character, the Lamborghini has the edge.

What do I pay over the ex-showroom price?

In Delhi, registration, insurance and other charges add roughly ₹90 lakh to ₹1 crore over ex-showroom, before any options or personalisation. Get a written quote from the dealer, as options on a Lamborghini can be very expensive.
