Ferrari Purosangue

The Purosangue is Ferrari's first four-door, four-seat car, with a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 and all-wheel drive. It sits higher than any other Ferrari and has a usable boot, yet Ferrari claims 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. It suits a buyer who wants a Ferrari the family can travel in and who can afford one of the most expensive SUVs sold in India.

Our verdict on the Purosangue

The Purosangue is the most practical Ferrari ever made, and the only one that copes well with Indian roads. Real rear seats, a 473-litre boot and 185 mm of ground clearance make it usable every day, while the V12 gives it a character no rival SUV matches. The problem is price and timing. At about ₹10.50 crore it costs far more than a Lamborghini Urus SE, an Aston Martin DBX707 or a Bentley Bentayga, which are just as usable day to day. Indian media also report that Ferrari is taking orders at about ₹7.59 crore for cars delivered after the India-EU trade agreement takes effect, expected in 2027 or 2028. Buying at full price now invites heavy depreciation. Ferrari has also had long waiting lists for this car in the past. We would book at the lower price, or buy a rival if you need a car soon.

Good things

  • Practical: four real seats, a usable boot and decent ground clearance
  • Naturally aspirated V12 that no rival SUV offers
  • Large saving available if you wait for the trade-deal price

Could be better

  • Far dearer than the Urus, DBX707 or Bentayga at full price
  • Very thirsty: Ferrari's WLTP figure is 17.3 litres per 100 km
  • Full price now looks poor value against the post-trade-deal order price
  • Ferrari service available only in a few big cities

Ferrari Purosangue: the Ferrari that fits Indian roads

The Purosangue is Ferrari's answer to the super-SUV, though Ferrari avoids the word. Its front-mounted 6,496 cc V12 makes 725 PS and 716 Nm at 6,250 rpm without turbochargers or a hybrid system. An 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive put the power down, and Ferrari claims 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed above 310 km/h.

The body is 4,973 mm long on a 3,018 mm wheelbase, with rear-hinged back doors and four individual seats. The boot holds 473 litres. Active suspension keeps the body level in corners and smooths bumps, and ground clearance is 185 mm, with an optional system that raises it to 215 mm. That makes it far easier to live with in India than a low Ferrari coupe.

In India the Purosangue is listed at about ₹10.50 crore ex-showroom for delivery now. Ferrari is taking orders at about ₹7.59 crore for delivery after the India-EU trade agreement takes effect, which Indian media expect in 2027 or 2028. Fuel use is high, insurance and tyres are expensive, and Ferrari workshops are found only in a few metro cities.

Should I wait for the India-EU trade deal price?

If you can, yes. Indian media report that dealers are booking the Purosangue at about ₹7.59 crore for delivery after the agreement takes effect, against about ₹10.50 crore today. The lower price does not apply to cars delivered earlier and could still change. Get the price and delivery terms in writing.

Can adults sit in the back?

Yes. Unlike the small rear seats in the Amalfi, the Purosangue has two full rear seats reached through rear-hinged doors. It remains a four-seater, though, so it will not replace a seven-seat family SUV.

Purosangue or Lamborghini Urus SE?

The Urus SE is a plug-in hybrid with a twin-turbo V8, more power and a lower price. The Purosangue has a naturally aspirated V12, a more special feel and a much higher price. If value and availability matter, the Urus makes more sense. If you want the V12 Ferrari, wait for the trade-deal price.
