Our verdict on the SQ8
The SQ8 fills a gap Audi India left open for a while: a V8 Q8 that is not the full RS. With 507 PS and a claimed 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, it is quick enough for anything on Indian roads, and the sport air suspension keeps it composed. It costs about ₹68 lakh more than the V6 Q8, which already does the daily job well, and about ₹52 lakh less than the RS Q8 Performance. Audi India does not publish fuel economy, tank size or ground clearance, and a V8 of this size will be thirsty. The price has already gone up since the March 2026 launch, and the India-EU trade agreement, expected from 2027, could change import pricing, so get a firm written quote. Rivals to look at include the Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupé. If you want a V8 Audi SUV, this is the sensible one.

Audi SQ8: V8 pace without the RS price
Audi launched the SQ8 in India in March 2026, placing it between the Q8 55 TFSI and the RS Q8 Performance. It uses a 3,996 cc twin-turbo V8 rated at 373 kW (507 PS) and 770 Nm from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm, with an 8-speed tiptronic automatic and permanent quattro all-wheel drive. Audi claims 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and a limited 250 km/h top speed.
Compared with the Q8, it gets adaptive air suspension sport, an S-specific grille with honeycomb detail, larger air intakes, an S-specific exhaust and sport front seats. HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light and a panoramic sunroof are part of the package. Valcona leather and other interior schemes cost extra, and 22-inch wheels are reported as an extra-cost option over the standard 21-inch set.
The SQ8 is 5,005 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,695 mm tall, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. Audi India quotes 1,751 litres of luggage space with the rear seats folded, but no seats-up figure, fuel economy, tank size or ground clearance, so we have left those out. Ask the dealer for the Indian-spec figures before you buy.
SQ8 or RS Q8 Performance?
The RS Q8 Performance adds 133 PS, ceramic brakes and a sport differential, and costs about ₹52 lakh more. On public roads, the SQ8's 507 PS is already more than you can use. Choose the RS only if you want the fastest Q8 or plan track days.
SQ8 or the regular Q8?
The Q8's 340 PS V6 is smooth and quick enough for most owners, and it costs about ₹68 lakh less. The SQ8 adds the V8 sound and pace, sport air suspension and sportier styling. It is a want, not a need.
What is the actual price now?
The SQ8 was launched at an introductory ₹1.78 crore. Audi India's own store now lists it at ₹1.81 crore ex-showroom after the April 2026 price rise. The India-EU trade agreement may change import pricing from 2027, so confirm the figure in writing before paying a booking amount.
