Our verdict on the A6
The A6 is a comfortable, well-built sedan with a strong petrol engine and a big boot. Its weakness is age and timing. Audi India's own model page already talks about the next-generation A6, and the long-wheelbase 5 Series and E-Class give rear passengers more room. If you buy now, push hard for a discount and ask the dealer in writing whether the new model is weeks away, because a generation change usually hits resale. If the deal is right and you mostly drive yourself, the Premium Plus is a sensible buy. If you sit in the back, test the long-wheelbase rivals first, or wait for the new A6 and compare.

Audi A6: a quick, comfortable sedan near the end of its run
The A6 sits between the A4 and Audi's SUVs in price. India gets one powertrain, the 45 TFSI: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol rated at 265 PS and 370 Nm, with a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic driving the front wheels. Audi quotes 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and a 250 km/h top speed, so it is quicker than most buyers will ever need.
Both trims get the two-screen MMI layout with haptic feedback, the digital Audi virtual cockpit and powered front seats. The Technology adds 4-zone climate control, Bang & Olufsen audio, wireless charging, a hands-free boot and 19-inch wheels. At 4,939 mm long with a 2,930 mm wheelbase, it is roomy for a standard-wheelbase sedan.
The 530-litre boot is large and the 73-litre tank gives a long range. Claimed efficiency is 14.11 km/l. Ground clearance is about 165 mm, so watch steep ramps. Audi India's website already describes a newer A6, so this car is likely in its final months on sale. Ask the dealer what the new model will change before you commit.
Should I wait for the new A6?
If you are not in a hurry, yes. Audi India's model page already shows next-generation copy, and aggregators expect the new car in late October 2026. Buying the outgoing model makes sense only with a clear discount, because resale will fall once the new one arrives.
Is the A6 good for being chauffeur-driven?
It is comfortable in the back, but the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class are sold in India in long-wheelbase form with noticeably more rear legroom. If rear comfort is the priority, test those before deciding.
What does the Technology trim add?
Mainly comfort and audio: 4-zone climate control, Bang & Olufsen sound, wireless phone charging, a hands-free boot, 19-inch diamond-turned wheels and wood inlays. The engine, gearbox and performance are the same as the Premium Plus.
How does the A6 compare with the Q5 at a similar price?
They cost about the same. The Q5 adds quattro all-wheel drive and more ground clearance, while the A6 has a bigger boot, better claimed efficiency and a more relaxed highway ride. Pick the Q5 for bad roads, the A6 for long highway use.
