Audi RS Q8 Performance

The RS Q8 Performance is the fastest Q8 and Audi's most powerful SUV in India, with a 640 hp 4.0 twin-turbo V8, ceramic brakes and a sport differential as standard. It suits a buyer who wants super-SUV pace in a five-seater that is still easy to use every day, and who is cross-shopping the Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus.

Our verdict on the RS Q8 Performance

The RS Q8 Performance is a very fast, very complete SUV. The 640 hp V8, standard ceramic brakes and sport differential put it in the same performance league as the Lamborghini Urus SE, for roughly half the money, and it still has a usable five-seat cabin with a sliding rear seat and 4-zone climate control. The catch is that the SQ8 now offers most of this pace for about ₹52 lakh less, and the regular Q8 does the daily job for less than half the RS price. Audi India publishes no fuel economy, tank or boot figure for the RS, and tyres for 23-inch wheels, ceramic brake parts and insurance will be costly. Prices rose in April 2026, and the India-EU trade agreement, expected from 2027, may lower duty on some imported European performance cars, so confirm the price in writing. Buy it if you want the fastest Audi SUV; otherwise the SQ8 is the smarter choice.

Good things

  • Huge V8 performance with ceramic brakes as standard
  • Comfortable enough for daily use, with a practical five-seat cabin
  • Roughly half the price of a Lamborghini Urus SE
  • Well equipped: B&O sound, ventilated sport seats, 360-degree camera

Could be better

  • About ₹52 lakh more than the SQ8, which is already very quick
  • No official fuel economy, boot or tank figure from Audi India
  • High running costs: tyres, brakes and insurance
  • Price may change with the India-EU trade agreement

Audi RS Q8 Performance: super-SUV pace at half the Urus price

The RS Q8 Performance sits at the top of Audi's SUV range in India. Its 3,996 cc twin-turbo V8 makes 471 kW (640 hp) and 850 Nm from 2,300 to 4,500 rpm, which Audi says makes it the most powerful series-production combustion engine from Audi Sport. Power goes through an 8-speed automatic to a quattro system with a sport differential. Audi claims 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, with a 250 km/h limit that can be raised to 305 km/h as an option.

Standard hardware includes RS ceramic brakes with carbon-fibre-reinforced discs, adaptive air suspension sport with a 90 mm adjustment range, ventilated RS sport seats plus in Valcona leather, the Audi virtual cockpit plus with RS displays, Bang & Olufsen 3D sound with 17 speakers, 4-zone climate control and Park Assist Plus with a 360-degree camera. A black styling pack, several 23-inch wheel designs and RS design interior packs cost extra.

Audi's brochure gives the RS Q8 Performance as 5,020 mm long, 2,005 mm wide and 1,700 mm tall, with a 2,995 mm wheelbase. Audi India does not publish boot space, fuel tank size, fuel economy or ground clearance for this model, so we have left those out rather than borrow figures from other markets. Ask the dealer for the figures that apply to Indian cars.

RS Q8 Performance or Lamborghini Urus SE?

They share a lot of engineering. The Urus SE is a plug-in hybrid with more power and a stronger badge, but it costs about ₹4.57 crore. The Audi is roughly half that and gives very similar real-world pace. Unless the Lamborghini name matters to you, the Audi is the more sensible buy.

RS Q8 Performance or SQ8?

The SQ8's 507 PS V8 is already very quick and costs about ₹52 lakh less. The RS adds 133 hp, ceramic brakes and a sport differential. On public roads you will rarely use the difference, so we would only pay for the RS if you plan track days or want the fastest Q8.

What will it cost to run?

Expect high bills. A 640 hp V8 uses a lot of fuel, tyres for 23-inch wheels are expensive, and ceramic brake parts cost far more than steel ones, though they last longer. Insurance on a ₹2.34 crore SUV is also steep. Ask Audi for a multi-year service plan quote before you buy.
