Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
The electric version of Mahindra's XUV 3XO, launched in early 2026 and effectively replacing the XUV400. It uses a 39.4 kWh battery and a 150 PS motor, and comes in two well-equipped variants. It suits city and short-commute buyers with home charging who want a quick, feature-rich compact electric SUV.

Our verdict on the XUV 3XO EV
The XUV 3XO EV is a quick, well-equipped compact electric SUV, and Mahindra has priced it sensibly. Even the base AX5 has six airbags, twin 10.25-inch screens and dual-zone climate control. The weak point is the battery. At 39.4 kWh, and with Mahindra itself quoting 285 km of real-world range, it covers city use comfortably but needs planning for regular highway trips. A Tata Nexon EV with the 45 kWh pack goes further for similar money. The 7.2 kW wall charger is also a ₹50,000 extra. Buy it if most of your driving is in town, you can charge at home, and you prefer Mahindra's performance and features. If you travel between cities often, look at a longer-range rival first.
Good things
- Strong 150 PS, 310 Nm motor with a claimed 0-100 km/h of 8.3 seconds
- Six airbags, twin 10.25-inch screens and climate control from the base variant
- AX7L brings Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera for about ₹15 lakh
- Simple two-variant line-up
Could be better
- 39.4 kWh battery and a 285 km real-world claim limit highway use
- The 7.2 kW home charger costs ₹50,000 extra
- One battery size only, with no larger pack for buyers who travel between cities
- Mahindra has not published an official certified range figure

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: quick and well kitted, short on range
The XUV 3XO EV arrived in January 2026 with deliveries from late February. It takes the 39.4 kWh battery and 150 PS, 310 Nm motor from the XUV400, which it effectively replaces, and puts them in the newer XUV 3XO body. Mahindra claims 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and quotes a real-world range of 285 km rather than a lab figure.
There are two variants. The AX5 at ₹13.89 lakh ex-showroom already has six airbags, two 10.25-inch screens, dual-zone climate control, a rear camera, wireless charging and an electronic parking brake. The AX7L at ₹14.96 lakh adds Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof and a Harman Kardon sound system.
Charging is the part to plan. A 50 kW DC charger takes the battery from 0 to 80% in about 50 minutes, and a 7.2 kW home charger fills it in about six and a half hours. That charger is a ₹50,000 option, so add it to your budget if you need it. Ask the dealer whether the charger and its installation are included in any offer, and check that your building allows a wall box before you book.
Which variant should you buy?
The AX7L. The price gap is about ₹1.07 lakh, and it buys ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof and better audio. The AX5 is well equipped too, so choose it only if the budget is firm at ₹14 lakh.
Is 285 km enough?
For city driving with home charging, yes, comfortably. Expect less on fast highways and with the AC working hard. If you regularly drive more than about 200 km in a day, a larger-battery rival will be less stressful.
How does it compare with the Tata Nexon EV?
The Nexon EV offers a larger 45 kWh battery option and a longer claimed range, and Tata has a longer track record with EVs. The Mahindra is quicker and has a strong feature list for its price. Range-focused buyers should lean towards the Nexon; city buyers who value performance and equipment can choose the 3XO EV.
Should you buy the electric or the petrol 3XO?
The EV costs more upfront but much less to run if you charge at home. If you drive about 1,000 km or more a month and can charge overnight, the EV makes financial sense over several years. For occasional use or long road trips, the petrol is simpler.
