Our verdict on the Grecale Folgore
The Grecale Folgore is quick, quiet and roomy, and against the petrol Grecale Trofeo it looks good value: less money, more torque, and electricity instead of premium petrol. The 105 kWh battery gives a usable range for highway trips, though expect real-world figures below the 501 km WLTP claim, especially at Indian highway speeds and in summer heat. The 150 kW charging limit is modest for a battery this size. The bigger questions are about ownership: Maserati's Indian network is very thin, EV resale values at this price are untested, and there is no Maserati India statement yet on how the India-EU trade agreement will affect prices. A Porsche Macan Electric is the obvious rival with a stronger network; test both before deciding.

Maserati Grecale Folgore: the quiet way to drive a trident
The Grecale Folgore uses the same body as the petrol Grecale but replaces the engine with two electric motors, one on each axle, for all-wheel drive. Together they make 550 PS and 820 Nm. Maserati claims 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h, which makes it nearly as quick as the 530 PS petrol Trofeo.
The 105 kWh battery is rated for up to 501 km on the WLTP cycle. It accepts up to 22 kW on AC and 150 kW on DC fast chargers. At 4,865 mm long with a 2,901 mm wheelbase and a 535-litre boot, it is a practical five-seater. The cabin uses Econyl, a recycled nylon fabric, and the 12.3-inch touchscreen can plan charging stops on longer trips.
Maserati India lists the Folgore at ₹1.90 crore ex-showroom, close to Autocar India's ₹1.89 crore figure. Unlike petrol imports, electric cars already attract lower GST in India, so the September 2025 tax change did little to its price. Any effect from the India-EU trade agreement is still unknown, so confirm the price when you book.
How far will it really go on a charge?
Maserati's figure is 501 km on the WLTP cycle, the best case. Indian highway speeds, heat and air-conditioning use will all reduce it, and fast expressway runs will cut it the most. Maserati does not publish an Indian-cycle figure, so plan longer trips around fast chargers with a sensible margin.
Folgore or petrol Trofeo?
The Folgore costs ₹10 lakh less, has more torque and is only a little slower to 100 km/h. The Trofeo has the V6 sound and no charging worries on long trips. If you can charge at home and most of your driving is in and around the city, the Folgore is the better buy.
How fast does it charge?
It accepts up to 150 kW on DC fast chargers and 22 kW on AC. Real charging times depend on what the public charger can deliver, and many are rated below 150 kW. Home AC charging overnight is the practical way to run it.
