Maserati GranCabrio
The open-top version of Maserati's GranTurismo, sold in India as the 550 PS Trofeo with a fabric roof, four seats and all-wheel drive. It suits a buyer who wants a fast, comfortable four-seat convertible for cool-season drives and weekends, and can accept a small boot and a thin service network.

Our verdict on the GranCabrio
The GranCabrio Trofeo combines real performance with four usable seats and a roof that turns it into a relaxed open-air tourer. In Indian conditions, though, roof-down weather is limited to a few months in most cities, and the boot shrinks to 172 litres. Its price is well above the GranTurismo coupe for the same mechanicals. Ownership is the other concern: Maserati's network is small, resale for open-top Maseratis has been weak, and Maserati India does not publish its own price. Sources disagree on what it costs, from about ₹3.00 crore to ₹3.40 crore ex-showroom, and the India-EU trade agreement could change import prices, so get a written quote. If you will use the roof often, it is a characterful choice; if not, the GranTurismo coupe gives you most of the same car for less.
Good things
- Strong V6 performance with all-wheel drive
- Four seats, unlike many open-top rivals
- Neck warmer and wind deflector make roof-down driving comfortable
- Very rare on Indian roads
Could be better
- Boot drops to 172 litres
- Much dearer than the GranTurismo coupe for the same mechanicals
- Maserati India publishes no price, and reported figures vary widely
- Small dealer and service network; ground clearance not published

Maserati GranCabrio: open-air grand touring for four
The current GranCabrio is the convertible version of the GranTurismo and replaced the old V8 car. In India, only the Trofeo has a published price. It uses the 3.0-litre twin-turbo Nettuno V6 with 550 PS and 650 Nm, an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Maserati claims 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 316 km/h.
Instead of a folding hard-top, it uses a fabric roof, which keeps weight down and packs away neatly. With the roof stowed the boot holds 172 litres, against 310 litres in the coupe. A neck warmer in the front headrests and a clip-on wind deflector for the rear seats make top-down driving more comfortable. At 1,895 kg it is about 100 kg heavier than the coupe.
Maserati India does not show a rupee price. Autocar India currently lists the GranCabrio Trofeo at about ₹3.00 crore ex-showroom, while earlier reports and some sites still show ₹3.40 crore. The 490 PS GranCabrio and the electric GranCabrio Folgore are on Maserati's India site but have no confirmed Indian price yet.
GranCabrio or GranTurismo coupe?
They share the V6, gearbox and all-wheel drive. The coupe has a much bigger boot, is lighter and costs less. The GranCabrio adds the open roof and a little more drama. If you will rarely drop the roof, buy the coupe.
Is a convertible practical in India?
For a few months a year in most cities, yes, especially early mornings and evenings. Summer heat, monsoon rain and dust limit roof-down use. On a test drive, check cabin noise and rear-seat headroom with the roof closed, since that is how you will use it most of the year.
What does it really cost?
Reported ex-showroom figures range from about ₹3.00 crore to ₹3.40 crore, and Maserati India does not publish its own. Options through Maserati's Fuoriserie programme can add a lot more. Ask the dealer for a written price, and check whether the India-EU trade agreement may lower import prices soon.
