Citroen C5 Aircross
Citroen's flagship in India, now sold in a single fully loaded Shine trim with a 177 PS 2.0 diesel and an 8-speed automatic. It is built around ride comfort rather than sportiness, with hydraulic-cushion suspension and three separate rear seats. It suits a buyer who drives long distances, values a soft ride and does not need seven seats.

Our verdict on the C5 Aircross
The C5 Aircross does one thing well: it rides gently and covers long distances without fuss. The 2.0 diesel and 8-speed automatic are strong and the claimed 17.5 km/l is respectable for a car this size. The problem is the price. At ₹37.32 lakh it costs about as much as a top Hyundai Tucson and more than a Jeep Compass, yet it has no ADAS, no seven-seat option and a thin dealer and service network. It also has no all-wheel drive. If ride comfort is your priority and you have a Citroen workshop nearby, it is a sensible, comfortable car. For most buyers we would look at the Tucson first, or stretch to a Skoda Kodiaq if seven seats matter, and use the Citroen as a bargaining point rather than the default choice.
Good things
- Soft, settled ride from the hydraulic-cushion suspension, well suited to broken roads
- Strong 177 PS diesel with an 8-speed automatic and a claimed 17.5 km/l
- Three individual rear seats and a large 580-litre boot
- Fully loaded single variant, so there is little to decide
Could be better
- ₹37.32 lakh is a lot for a five-seat SUV without ADAS
- No petrol, no all-wheel drive and no seven-seat option
- Citroen's dealer and service network is small outside the big cities
- Resale values for Citroen models have been weak

Citroen C5 Aircross: a comfort-first diesel in one loaded trim
The C5 Aircross is Citroen's most expensive car in India and, since the base Feel was dropped, it comes in one trim: the Shine. That simplifies buying. You get a 2.0-litre diesel with 177 PS and 400 Nm, an 8-speed automatic, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital driver display and six airbags. The only decision left is whether you want single-tone or dual-tone paint.
What sets it apart is the ride. Citroen fits what it calls Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, which soften the impact of potholes and speed breakers more than conventional dampers do. The rear has three separate seats rather than a bench, and the boot is a generous 580 litres. It is a five-seater only, and there is no all-wheel drive.
The weak spots are commercial rather than mechanical. At ₹37.32 lakh ex-showroom it is priced against bigger names with larger networks and better resale. Before you commit, check how far your nearest Citroen service centre is and ask the dealer for a written discount, because the list price leaves room to negotiate.
Which variant should you buy?
There is only one, the Shine at ₹37.32 lakh ex-showroom. It has everything Citroen offers on this car, so the choice is paint. Pearl White, Cumulus Grey and Eclipse Blue are also available with a black roof, and Perla Nera Black is single tone only.
How does it compare with the Hyundai Tucson?
The Tucson offers a petrol as well as a diesel, Level 2 ADAS and a far larger service network, and it is priced in the same area. The Citroen rides more softly and has a bigger boot with three individual rear seats. For most families the Tucson is the safer purchase. The C5 Aircross makes sense if comfort over bad roads matters more than features.
Is it worth the price?
Only if you value the ride above all else and live near a Citroen workshop. The car itself is well equipped and the diesel is efficient, but you are paying a premium badge price without ADAS, seven seats or strong resale. Treat the list price as a starting point and negotiate hard.
Is it a seven-seater?
No. It seats five, with three separate rear seats that each slide, recline and fold. If you need a third row in this budget, look at the Skoda Kodiaq or a Toyota Innova Hycross instead.
