MG Majestor
MG’s flagship ladder-frame SUV, over five metres long, with a 2.0 twin-turbo diesel, an eight-speed automatic and a choice of 4x2 or 4x4. Every version gets Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and heavily equipped front seats. It suits buyers who want the most space and equipment in the Fortuner class, and who rarely need a dealer far from a city.

Only if you genuinely go off-road or into hills in bad weather. The low range and three locking differentials are serious hardware, and they are the only things it adds.

Our verdict on the Majestor
The Majestor gives you more car than a Fortuner at a similar price to the Fortuner’s 4x4 automatic: it is longer, has a more powerful engine and an eight-speed automatic, and comes loaded with ADAS, a 360-degree camera and massage seats on every version. The equipment list is generous because there is only one trim. What it cannot match is Toyota’s reputation for durability and resale value, or the size of its service network outside big cities. If you drive mostly on highways and in town, the 4x2 is the sensible buy. If resale and long-term reliability come first, a 4x2 Fortuner diesel automatic costs about ₹4.9 lakh less and is still the safer bet, even with less kit.
Good things
- Large cabin, long wheelbase and a choice of 6 or 7 seats
- Strong 215.5 PS twin-turbo diesel with an eight-speed automatic
- Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera and ventilated massage seats on every version
- 4x4 has low range and three locking differentials
Could be better
- Resale and long-term track record are unproven next to the Fortuner
- MG’s service network is thinner than Toyota’s outside larger cities
- Over 5 metres long and 2 metres wide; tight city parking is hard work
- Official fuel-efficiency figure not published

MG Majestor: more car than the class leader, less certainty
The Majestor is MG’s full-size, body-on-frame SUV. It uses a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel with 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm, an eight-speed automatic, and either rear-wheel drive or a selectable 4x4 system with low range, front, centre and rear differential locks, and multiple terrain modes. It is 5,046 mm long with a 2,950 mm wheelbase and 219 mm of ground clearance.
There is a single trim, Savvy, so equipment is the same across the range. That includes Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise and lane keeping, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, a 12.3-inch portrait touchscreen, JBL audio, a large glass roof and front seats with power adjustment, ventilation and massage. The 4x2 comes with six or seven seats; the 4x4 is a seven-seater.
MG launched it in May 2026 at an introductory ₹40.99 lakh and raised the 4x2 price by ₹1.5 lakh in August. As of October 2026 the Delhi ex-showroom prices are ₹42.49 lakh for either 4x2 layout and ₹44.99 lakh for the 4x4. MG’s own site shows a slightly higher starting figure for some regions, so confirm the price for your city.
Do you need the 4x4?
Only if you drive on snow, sand, steep broken tracks or deep water. The 4x4 is well equipped for that, with low range and three locking differentials. For highway and city use the 4x2 is just as comfortable and costs ₹2.5 lakh less.
6 seats or 7?
Same price on the 4x2. The 6-seater’s captain chairs make the second row more comfortable and give an aisle to the third row. Pick the 7-seater only if you regularly need the extra seat. The 4x4 is sold only as a 7-seater.
How does it compare with the Toyota Fortuner?
The Majestor is bigger, more powerful and better equipped. Its 4x2 costs about ₹4.9 lakh more than a 4x2 Fortuner diesel automatic, but slightly less than the Fortuner’s 4x4 automatic. The Fortuner has the stronger reputation for reliability, resale value and a much wider service network. Buy the MG for the cabin and kit; buy the Toyota if you keep cars for a long time and drive far from cities.
