Our verdict on the Octavia RS
The Octavia RS is a rare thing in India today: a properly fast sedan that is also a sensible family car. The 265 PS engine and DSG make it quick, the lowered chassis and progressive steering make it enjoyable, and the 600-litre boot, ADAS, 10 airbags and long equipment list mean you give up little for the speed. The catches are the price, at ₹56.69 lakh for a front-wheel-drive Octavia, a firmer ride on poor roads, no official fuel-economy figure, and a run of just 50 cars, so you may not get the colour or delivery date you want. If you want a driver's car you can use every day, it is well worth tracking one down; if you mainly want comfort and space, the Kodiaq is more affordable and suits Indian roads better.

Skoda Octavia RS: the fast family sedan, in very short supply
The Octavia RS returned to India during the 2025 festive season as a limited run, and Skoda India announced a second batch of just 50 cars in September 2026, with bookings opened on 18 August and deliveries from early September. It is a family-sized sedan, 4,709 mm long with a 2,677 mm wheelbase, and it looks the part with a gloss-black grille, RS bumpers, LED Matrix headlights, red brake callipers and 19-inch wheels.
There is one powertrain: a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol making 195 kW (265 PS) and 370 Nm, with a 7-speed DSG automatic driving the front wheels. Skoda quotes 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and a limited 250 km/h top speed. The sports chassis sits 15 mm lower with firmer springs and dampers, and progressive steering quickens the response. Skoda India does not publish a fuel-economy figure for it.
There is one version, at ₹56.69 lakh ex-showroom, and it is fully equipped: ADAS with adaptive cruise and lane assist, 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Intelligent Park Assist, a head-up display, three-zone climate control, a 675 W Canton system and heated, massaging front sports seats with memory. The boot holds 600 litres, or 1,555 litres with the rear seats folded.
Octavia RS or Kodiaq RS?
The Kodiaq RS costs ₹66.99 lakh, ₹10.3 lakh more, and gives you a seven-seat SUV with four-wheel drive. The Octavia RS is lower, lighter on its feet and the more involving car to drive, with a bigger boot than most SUVs. Pick the Octavia for driving enjoyment on good roads; pick the Kodiaq if you need the extra seats, ground clearance or 4x4.
Can it be a daily car?
Yes, with care. The cabin and 600-litre boot are as practical as any family sedan, and the DSG is easy in traffic. But the car sits 15 mm lower on firm suspension and low-profile 19-inch tyres, so take speed breakers and broken roads slowly, and expect a busier ride than a regular sedan.
Can I still get one?
Only 50 cars are in this batch, spread across the whole country, so availability depends on your dealer's allocation. Call your nearest Skoda dealer before you set your heart on a colour; only Mamba Green, Velvet Red and Magic Black are offered.
What about running costs?
Skoda India does not quote a mileage figure, and a 265 PS turbo petrol driven hard will be thirsty. The car comes with a 4-year/100,000 km warranty, 4 years of roadside assistance and 4 labour-free services, but parts such as the 19-inch tyres and brakes will cost more than on a regular sedan.
