Rolls-Royce Spectre

The Spectre is Rolls-Royce's first electric car, a two-door, four-seat coupe with twin motors, all-wheel drive and a 102 kWh battery rated at 530 km on the WLTP cycle. It is the least expensive Rolls-Royce on sale in India. It suits owners who drive themselves, mostly in and around cities, and who have reliable home charging.

Our verdict on the Spectre

The Spectre is the most modern Rolls-Royce and, on paper, the most sensible one for India. It is near-silent, very quick, costs less than any other Rolls-Royce here and pays lower GST than the V12 cars. The catches: it is a two-door coupe, so rear passengers climb in past the front seats; real range will fall short of 530 km at highway speeds; and fast chargers that can make full use of its 195 kW rate are still rare on Indian highways. Rolls-Royce has also revealed a Spectre Series II with more power and range, which has no India price yet, so ask the dealer which version you would get. Prices are changing after the India-UK trade agreement of 15 July 2026, and it is not clear how electric cars are treated, so get a written quote. If you are mostly driven, buy a Ghost instead.

Good things

  • Quiet, smooth electric drive with 900 Nm on tap
  • Lowest price of any Rolls-Royce in India
  • Lower GST and road-tax relief compared with the V12 models

Could be better

  • Two doors: awkward for rear passengers and chauffeur use
  • Few highway fast chargers can match its 195 kW charging rate
  • Series II with more range is out abroad but not yet priced in India
  • Prices changing after the India-UK trade deal; no official India price list

Rolls-Royce Spectre: the electric Rolls-Royce for owner-drivers

The Spectre went on sale in 2023 as the first production electric Rolls-Royce. Two motors, 190 kW at the front and 360 kW at the rear, give a combined 430 kW (584 hp) and 900 Nm, with all-wheel drive. Rolls-Royce claims 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds for a car that weighs 2,890 kg. The 102 kWh battery gives a WLTP range of 530 km, and a 10-80% charge takes 34 minutes on a 195 kW DC charger.

At 5,490 mm long with a 3,210 mm wheelbase, the Spectre is a large coupe with four seats and rear-hinged doors. The Black Badge version, launched in India in June 2025, raises output to 485 kW (659 PS) and 1,075 Nm in its Infinity Mode. In June 2026 Rolls-Royce revealed Spectre Series II with more power, a longer WLTP range of up to 628 km and faster charging, but it had no India price when we checked.

Autocar India lists the Spectre at ₹7.62 crore and the Black Badge at ₹9.50 crore ex-showroom, while CarWale and CarDekho still show the 2024 launch price of ₹7.50 crore. As an electric car it pays 5% GST and, on Autocar India's Delhi estimate, no RTO charge. The India-UK trade agreement of 15 July 2026 cut duty on many UK-built cars; ask the dealer whether it changes the Spectre's price.

Can the Spectre manage long trips in India?

It can, with planning. Rolls-Royce's 530 km WLTP figure will drop at sustained highway speeds, and most public chargers on Indian highways are far slower than the 195 kW the car can accept. Most owners will charge at home overnight on an AC wallbox and use the car mainly in and around the city.

Should I wait for Spectre Series II?

Rolls-Royce says Series II has up to 18% more range, up to 628 km on WLTP, more power and up to 14% faster charging. It had no India price in October 2026. If range matters to you, ask the dealer when Series II will reach India and how it will be priced before ordering.

Spectre or Ghost?

The Spectre is cheaper, quieter and pays less tax, but it has two doors and is meant for the owner to drive. The Ghost has four doors, a proper rear seat and a petrol V12 with no charging worries. If you will be driven, the Ghost is the right car; if you drive yourself in the city, the Spectre makes more sense.
