Rolls-Royce Phantom
The Phantom is Rolls-Royce’s flagship saloon, built to be driven in rather than to drive. It pairs the 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 and its 900 Nm with rear-hinged coach doors and a 3,552 mm wheelbase for a very large rear cabin. It suits buyers for whom the back seat, the sense of occasion and the Bespoke commission matter more than the running cost.

Our verdict on the Phantom
The Phantom is the most complete luxury car on sale in India. At CarWale’s listed ₹8.99 crore it starts close to the Ghost, so its extra presence, coach doors and the Gallery add little to the sticker, but it costs more to run: about 6.4 km/l on Rolls-Royce’s own WLTP figure, insurance in the tens of lakhs a year, and a body long enough to need a big garage. The Centenary Edition at ₹29.20 crore is a limited collector’s car. Rolls-Royce does not publish Indian prices, and the India-UK trade agreement of 15 July 2026 may move them, so get a written dealer quote before you commit.
Good things
- Very long rear cabin with rear-hinged coach doors
- 900 Nm from 1,700 rpm gives effortless pace
- The most scope for Bespoke commissions, including the Gallery
Could be better
- Running costs are the highest of any Rolls-Royce here
- A very long, heavy car; parking and garaging need planning
- Rolls-Royce publishes no Indian prices; the listed figures may change after the India-UK trade deal
- Service only at Rolls-Royce dealers in a few cities

Rolls-Royce Phantom: the flagship, built for the back seat
The current Phantom is the eighth generation, updated as Series II in 2022. Rolls-Royce added an illuminated grille and a reshaped front, while keeping the aluminium spaceframe, rear-hinged coach doors and the Gallery, a glass panel across the dashboard that holds artwork chosen by the owner. It remains the longest and most formal car Rolls-Royce sells.
Power comes from the 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12, rated at 571 PS and 900 Nm from 1,700 rpm, through an eight-speed automatic to the rear wheels. The wheelbase is 3,552 mm, and Bespoke options include the Privacy Suite, a partition between front and rear.
CarWale lists the Phantom at ₹8.99 crore ex-showroom (Mumbai) and the limited Centenary Edition at ₹29.20 crore. Rolls-Royce does not publish Indian prices, and the India-UK trade agreement, in force since 15 July 2026, may move them, so treat these as indicative and ask the dealer for a written quote.
Why do Phantom prices vary between websites?
Rolls-Royce does not publish Indian prices, so listing sites rely on dealer data from different dates. We show CarWale’s listed figures. With the India-UK trade deal changing import duty, ask the dealer for a written ex-showroom quote before you budget.
Phantom or Ghost Extended?
Both give a rear passenger a large, quiet cabin and a V12. The Phantom adds coach doors, the Gallery and more presence. At the listed prices they start close together, so the choice is about the car rather than the sticker; the Phantom costs more to run.
What does a Phantom cost to run?
Rolls-Royce's WLTP figure is 15.5-16.0 litres per 100 km, about 6.4 km/l, and slow city traffic will be worse. First-year insurance runs to tens of lakhs. Servicing is only at Rolls-Royce dealers in a few cities, and tyres and body repairs on a car of this size are costly.
