Our verdict on the Countryman Electric
The Countryman Electric is a well-built, roomy and easy-to-drive electric SUV, and the included wallbox and long battery warranty help the case. The issue is value. At ₹55-63 lakh it costs more than the petrol Countryman C, and rivals such as the BMW iX1 LWB, Volvo EX40 and Kia EV6 are worth comparing on range, space and price. Its single 204 hp motor is adequate rather than quick, and Mini's own range claims vary between 462 km and 501 km on the WLTP cycle, so plan on rather less in real use. Buy it if you like the Mini design and want an electric car with a premium cabin. Drive the BMW iX1 LWB first, since it shares much of the engineering and offers more rear-seat space.
Good things
- Home wallbox charger with installation is included
- Fast 130 kW DC charging
- Roomy cabin and a usable 460-litre boot
- 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty
Could be better
- Single 204 hp motor feels adequate, not quick, for the price
- Costs several lakh more than the petrol Countryman C
- Mini's own range figures vary, so real-world range is hard to judge
- The 360-degree camera is only on the top Favoured

Mini Countryman Electric: a premium electric suv with a home charger thrown in
The all-electric Countryman shares its body with the petrol Countryman but has its own price list in India. It uses a single 150 kW (204 hp) motor driving the front wheels with 250 Nm of torque, and Mini claims 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. The battery is 66.45 kWh gross, and Mini's April 2026 spec sheet quotes 501 km on the European WLTP cycle.
The car is 4,445 mm long with a 2,692 mm wheelbase, so rear-seat space is good for two adults and acceptable for three. The boot holds about 460 litres and grows to 1,450 litres with the 40:20:40 rear seat folded. Ground clearance is 165 mm. DC charging runs at up to 130 kW, which Mini says takes the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 29 minutes; an 11 kW AC charger needs about 6 hours 15 minutes for a full charge.
Mini India sells three trims: Essential, Classic and Favoured. All get the panoramic glass roof, the round OLED touchscreen, memory front seats and a parking assistant. Classic adds a powered tailgate, keyless entry and sport seats; Favoured adds a 360-degree camera, head-up display, Harman Kardon audio and a massaging driver's seat.
How far will it really go on a charge?
Mini quotes 501 km on its April 2026 sheet and up to 462 km on its website, both on the European WLTP cycle. Indian heat, air-conditioning and highway speeds reduce real range noticeably, so plan long trips around fast chargers rather than the claimed figure.
Is home charging included?
Yes. The price includes a Mini AC wallbox with one-time installation at your home or office, two years of roadside assistance and an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the battery.
Should I buy the electric or petrol Countryman?
If you can charge at home and mostly drive in the city, the electric car costs much less to run per kilometre. The petrol Countryman C is cheaper to buy, has more ground clearance and needs no charging planning on long trips.
What are the main rivals?
The BMW iX1 LWB shares much of its engineering and offers more rear legroom. The Volvo EX40 and Kia EV6 are worth driving too. Compare range, charging speed and service reach in your city before deciding.
