BYD eMAX 7
The eMAX 7 is BYD’s electric MPV for India, offered with six or seven seats and a 71.8 kWh Blade battery in both trims. It suits families who want a roomy three-row electric car for city use and regular weekend trips, and who value low running costs over the image of an SUV.

Our verdict on the eMAX 7
The eMAX 7 is one of the few three-row electric cars in India under ₹30 lakh, and its 71.8 kWh battery gives it usable range for family trips. It is comfortable, practical and cheap to run if you charge at home, and the Superior adds the features buyers at this price expect, including ADAS, a panoramic roof and ventilated seats. The trade-offs: performance is modest in the Comfort, DC charging peaks at 115 kW, the boot is small with all three rows in use, and the MPV shape will not appeal to everyone. BYD’s network is still growing, so check service access in your city. Against a diesel or hybrid MPV such as the Toyota Innova Hycross, the eMAX 7 costs far less to run but cannot match its long-distance flexibility. For city-based families with home charging, it is a sensible buy.
Good things
- Large 71.8 kWh battery even in the cheapest version
- Spacious three-row cabin with a choice of six or seven seats
- Low running costs with home charging
- Superior trim is well equipped for under ₹30 lakh
Could be better
- Only 180 litres of boot with all three rows up
- Comfort trim misses ADAS, panoramic roof and ventilated seats
- DC fast charging peaks at 115 kW
- BYD’s dealer and service network is still limited outside big cities

BYD eMAX 7: a three-row electric family car
The eMAX 7 is an updated version of the e6 that BYD sold earlier in India, now with three rows of seats. It is 4,710 mm long with a 2,800 mm wheelbase, and BYD sells it in two trims, Comfort and Superior, each with a six-seat or seven-seat layout. In July 2026 the base trim was renamed Comfort from Premium and its prices went up.
Both trims use a 71.8 kWh Blade battery and a single front motor making 310 Nm. The Comfort has 120 kW and a claimed 485 km on the Indian MIDC cycle; the Superior has 150 kW, does 0-100 km/h in a claimed 8.6 seconds and is rated at 530 km on NEDC. DC fast charging runs at up to 115 kW and home AC charging at 7 kW.
All versions get a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, six airbags, ESC, a 360-degree camera, synthetic leather seats and vehicle-to-load. The Superior adds a Level 2 ADAS suite with adaptive cruise control, a panoramic glass roof, powered and ventilated front seats, wireless charging and a powered tailgate.
Six seats or seven?
The six-seater has two captain chairs in the middle, which are more comfortable and leave a walkway to the third row. The seven-seater uses a 60:40 split bench and costs ₹40,000-60,000 more. Choose seven seats only if you regularly carry seven people.
How far will it go on a charge?
BYD claims 485 km (MIDC) for the Comfort and 530 km (NEDC) for the Superior. In real use with a full cabin and the air-conditioning on, plan for roughly 350-400 km. That covers a week of city use or a 250-300 km highway trip without stress.
Is the boot big enough?
With all three rows up there is only 180 litres, enough for a few soft bags. Fold the third row and space rises to 580 litres. If you travel with six or seven people and luggage, consider a roof carrier or a larger MPV.
Comfort or Superior?
The Superior costs ₹1.4-1.6 lakh more and adds a stronger motor, Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic roof, ventilated front seats and wireless charging. Most families will find that worth paying for, especially for highway use.
