BYD Atto 3
BYD's compact electric SUV for India, and the brand's most affordable car here. Every version uses the same 204 PS front motor; the trims differ on battery size and equipment. It suits a buyer who wants a well-equipped EV of about Creta size with a panoramic roof and a 360-degree camera as standard, and who mostly drives in and around the city.

If your driving is mostly city commuting and you charge at home, the smaller battery is enough and saves you over ₹5 lakh. It has the same motor and almost the same comfort kit as the Premium.

Our verdict on the Atto 3
The Atto 3 gives you a lot of equipment for the money. Even the ₹24.99 lakh Dynamic has a panoramic roof, a 360-degree camera, powered seats and the same 204 PS motor as the top trim. The catch is the price jump: the Premium costs ₹5.36 lakh more for a bigger battery, and the Superior adds another ₹4.14 lakh mainly for ADAS and ventilated seats. At ₹34.49 lakh the Superior sits close to bigger, newer Indian EVs from Mahindra and Tata, so compare them before you sign. BYD's dealer and service network is also much thinner than the Indian brands', so check how far your nearest workshop is. Prices are indicative ex-showroom; we would buy the Premium.
Good things
- Strong standard kit, including panoramic roof, 360-degree camera and powered front seats
- Same 204 PS motor in every trim, so the base car is not slow
- LFP Blade battery with a long 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty
- Quiet, refined and easy to drive in town
Could be better
- ADAS, ventilated seats and the seventh airbag are kept for the dearest trim
- Big price steps between trims
- Smaller BYD service network than mainstream brands
- Dynamic's 468 km figure is from an easier city-only test cycle, so real range is lower

BYD Atto 3: the full motor at the entry price
The Atto 3 was BYD's first electric SUV in India and is now its cheapest model. At 4,455 mm long it sits between the compact SUVs and the mid-size ones, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase that gives good rear legroom and a flat floor. The boot holds 440 litres and grows to 1,340 litres with the rear seats folded, which is plenty for family weekend trips.
Every version has the same 150 kW (204 PS) front motor and 310 Nm of torque. The Dynamic gets a 49.92 kWh LFP Blade battery with a claimed 468 km, while the Premium and Superior get a 60.48 kWh pack rated at 521 km by ARAI. DC charging peaks at 70 kW on the Dynamic and 80 kW on the others; BYD quotes about 50 minutes for 0-80 per cent.
Standard equipment is generous: panoramic sunroof, 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, 360-degree camera, six airbags, powered front seats, wireless charging and a heat pump for the air-conditioning. The Superior adds Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a driver far-side airbag, adaptive headlamps and an 8-speaker Dirac sound system.
Is the Dynamic's smaller battery enough?
For most city owners who charge at home, yes. The 468 km claim comes from ARAI's city-only test, so expect noticeably less on the highway. If you regularly drive between cities, the 60.48 kWh Premium is the safer choice, and it also charges a little faster on DC.
Is the Superior worth ₹4.14 lakh over the Premium?
Only if you want ADAS and ventilated seats. The motor, battery and range are the same as the Premium. Ventilated seats are welcome in Indian summers, but ADAS is a convenience rather than a must-have in city traffic. For most buyers the Premium is the better value.
What about service and resale?
BYD's India dealer network is still small compared with Tata, Mahindra or Hyundai, so check the distance to your nearest service centre first. The battery warranty is 8 years or 1.6 lakh km. Resale for imported-brand EVs is less predictable than for mainstream models, so plan to keep the car for a while.
Which rivals should I look at?
Compare it with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra's XEV 9e and BE 6. Check range, space and on-road price side by side; all of these brands have larger service networks than BYD. The Atto 3's strengths are its standard kit and refinement.
