Our verdict on the VF MPV 7
The VF MPV 7 gets the basics of an electric family car right. It has a long claimed range, seven usable seats with a sliding second row, and a long warranty. But the equipment is thin for ₹20 lakh. It has four airbags where VinFast's own VF 6 has seven, no ADAS, no 360-degree camera, a smaller screen with wired phone mirroring, and only four speakers. Boot space with all seats up is small at 126 litres. Add a young service network and unknown resale, and we would compare it closely with the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMAX 7 before deciding. Buy it if the range and space suit your trips and a VinFast workshop is close by.

VinFast VF MPV 7: space and range first, features second
The VF MPV 7 is VinFast's seven-seat electric MPV for private buyers in India, launched in April 2026. It is 4,740 mm long with a 2,840 mm wheelbase, and seats seven in a 2-3-2 layout. A 60.13 kWh battery feeds a 204 PS, 280 Nm motor driving the front wheels, with a claimed 517 km on the MIDC cycle and a top speed of 140 km/h.
It comes in one specification at ₹20.39 lakh ex-showroom. Standard kit includes LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control with second- and third-row vents, leatherette seats, keyless entry, ESC, four airbags, rear parking sensors and a rear camera. The 10.1-inch touchscreen connects to phones by cable only.
DC fast charging peaks at 80 kW, with about 30 minutes quoted for 10 to 70 per cent, and AC charging is limited to 6.9 kW. VinFast's brochure lists a 7-year or 1.6 lakh km vehicle warranty and a 10-year or 2 lakh km battery warranty. A portable 3.5 kW charger comes with the car, which is handy for top-ups but slow for a full charge.
Is the third row usable for adults?
The 2,840 mm wheelbase is the same as the VF 7's, and the third row reclines and has its own AC controls. Sit in it at the showroom with the second row slid to a sensible position before you decide, because comfort depends on how the space is shared.
How much luggage can it take with all seats in use?
Very little: 126 litres, enough for a few soft bags. Folding the 50:50 third row opens up 606 litres, and folding both rear rows gives 1,240 litres.
Is it safe enough for a family car?
It has ESC, hill-start assist, roll-over mitigation and four airbags, but no ADAS and no 360-degree camera. VinFast's VF 6 and VF 7 carry seven airbags and 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings; check whether the MPV 7 has been rated before you buy. If safety kit is a priority, compare it with the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
Which rivals should we look at?
