VinFast VF 6
VinFast's smaller electric SUV, built in Tamil Nadu and sold with a 59.6 kWh battery in every version. It suits a city family that wants a well-equipped EV around ₹20 lakh, with seven airbags and a 360-degree camera even on the base car, and is willing to back a brand that only arrived in India in 2025.

Our verdict on the VF 6
The VF 6 is a sensible, well-specified electric SUV for the money. The Wind variant in particular brings features that rivals charge more for, and the 5-star Bharat NCAP score is reassuring. Range on paper is competitive, though real-world figures will be lower. What holds it back is the brand: VinFast is new in India, its dealer and service network is still being built, and nobody yet knows how these cars will hold their value. Before you sign, check the nearest service centre and compare the deal against the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6, which have far larger networks. If VinFast has a workshop near you, the VF 6 Wind is worth a test drive.
Good things
- Seven airbags, ESC and a 360-degree camera are standard, and the car has a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.
- The Wind variant packs Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and a head-up display at under ₹20 lakh ex-showroom.
- Same 59.6 kWh battery across the range, so the base car does not give up range.
- 190 mm of ground clearance suits broken roads and speed breakers.
Could be better
- VinFast's sales and service network in India is young and much thinner than Tata, Hyundai or Mahindra.
- Resale value is an unknown for a brand this new to the market.
- Earth variant misses ADAS, ventilated seats and the stronger motor, and gets fabric seats.
- Panoramic glass roof costs ₹50,000 extra as a separate variant.

VinFast VF 6: a well-kitted EV from a brand still finding its feet
The VF 6 is the smaller of the two SUVs VinFast assembles at its Tamil Nadu plant. At 4,241 mm long with a 2,730 mm wheelbase, it sits between compact SUVs like the Creta and larger mid-size models. Every version uses a 59.6 kWh battery driving the front wheels, with a claimed range of 468 km for the Earth and 463 km for the two Wind variants.
There are three variants. The Earth makes 177 PS and 250 Nm and already has seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, a 12.9-inch touchscreen and wireless phone mirroring. The Wind moves to a 204 PS, 310 Nm motor and adds Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, a head-up display, dual-zone climate control and 18-inch wheels. The Wind Infinity adds only a panoramic glass roof.
DC fast charging peaks at 100 kW, and VinFast quotes about 25 minutes for 10 to 70 per cent. AC charging is limited to 7.2 kW, so a full home charge takes most of a night. A portable 3.3 kW charger is supplied for occasional top-ups. The car scored five stars in Bharat NCAP testing, announced in January 2026.
Is the VF 6 Earth enough, or should we stretch to the Wind?
The Earth is safe and well equipped, but the Wind is the better buy for ₹1.4 lakh more. It brings a stronger motor, adaptive cruise and lane-keeping, ventilated seats and a head-up display. If you mostly drive in the city and do not care about ADAS, the Earth still makes sense.
How easy will it be to get the VF 6 serviced?
This is the main question. VinFast opened its 50th Indian showroom in March 2026, which is a fraction of what established brands have. Check the distance to the nearest VinFast workshop before you book, and ask the dealer about roadside assistance and parts lead times.
What range should we expect in daily use?
VinFast's 463-468 km figure comes from the MIDC test cycle in Eco mode. Highway speeds, air-conditioning and heavy traffic will cut that noticeably, so plan around a real-world figure well below the claim.
Which rivals should we compare it with?
At this price, look at the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6. They are backed by larger service networks, while the VF 6 often offers more equipment for the money.
