Renault Triber
Renault's sub-four-metre seven-seater is the cheapest way to carry seven people in a new car, with a clever sliding second row and a removable third row. The new 100 PS turbo fixes its biggest weakness, so it now suits budget families who occasionally need all seven seats and want a car that copes with a full load.

Our verdict on the Triber
The Triber has always been clever packaging let down by its engine. The 72 PS 1.0 struggled with seven people on board. The new turbo, with 100 PS and 180 Nm, finally gives the car the performance it needs, and at ₹7.85 lakh for the Evolution Turbo it is still far cheaper than any other seven-seater. Six airbags are standard, the second row slides and reclines, and the third row can be removed for a big boot. Be realistic about the third row: it is for children or short trips. There is no automatic with the turbo yet, the cabin is basic, and Renault's service network is thinner than Maruti's. If you need a proper seven-seater for adults every day, the Ertiga is roomier but costs more.
Good things
- Cheapest seven-seater on sale, from ₹5.81 lakh
- New 100 PS turbo makes it far more capable with a full load
- Six airbags on every variant
- Flexible seating: sliding second row and a removable third row
Could be better
- Third row is tight for adults and leaves little boot space when in use
- The turbo comes only with a manual; the AMT uses the weaker 72 PS engine
- Basic cabin materials and a thin Renault service network outside cities
- Turbo prices are introductory and may rise

Renault Triber: seven seats on a hatchback budget
The Triber is a seven-seat MPV that stays under four metres, at 3,990 mm long on a 2,636 mm wheelbase with 182 mm of ground clearance. Prices run from ₹5.81 lakh to about ₹9.21 lakh ex-showroom across 11 variants. It is the cheapest new seven-seater in India by a wide margin, and with the third row removed the boot grows to 625 litres.
Two 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines are offered. The non-turbo makes 72 PS and 96 Nm with a five-speed manual or AMT. The turbo, added in September 2026, makes 100 PS and 180 Nm with a five-speed manual only, and is offered on Evolution, Techno and Emotion. Renault claims 21 km/l for the turbo.
Six airbags are standard. Authentic has the sliding second row and removable third-row seats. Evolution adds an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear camera and rear AC vents for both back rows. Techno adds LED tail lamps, folding mirrors and roof rails, and Emotion adds LED headlamps, automatic climate control, cruise control and a wireless charger.
Which variant should you buy?
The Evolution Turbo. It costs about ₹1.11 lakh more than the non-turbo Evolution, and that money buys 28 PS and 84 Nm, which you will feel every time the car is full. It already has the touchscreen, rear camera and rear AC. Techno and Emotion add convenience features but not much that changes how the car works for a family.
Turbo or non-turbo?
Turbo, if you ever carry five or more people or drive on highways. The 72 PS engine is adequate with two or three on board but struggles with a full load and on hills. The turbo costs about ₹95,000 to ₹1.11 lakh more at the same trim. Stay with the non-turbo only if your budget is tight or you need an automatic.
Manual or AMT?
The AMT is offered only on the Emotion with the non-turbo engine, at about ₹48,000 more than the manual. It makes city driving easier, but paired with 72 PS it is slow when loaded. Reports say Renault is developing an automatic for the turbo, but nothing is confirmed, so do not wait for it.
How does it compare with the Maruti Ertiga?
The Ertiga is longer, has a usable third row for adults, a stronger 1.5 engine, a torque-converter automatic and CNG. It also costs from around ₹9 lakh, so the top Triber Turbo overlaps only with the base Ertiga. If you need seven adult seats regularly, stretch to the Ertiga. If the third row is for occasional use, the Triber saves a lot of money.
