What leaves your account
Ex-showroom is the advertised number. This is the one you pay. Every line is shown separately, and the single line that cannot be known in advance is marked as an estimate rather than folded into the total.
Road tax is levied by the state, not the city, so two buyers in the same state pay the same tax whichever town they live in. Pick your state for the tax, and your city if you want the heading to read properly.

| What you pay for | Amount |
|---|---|
| Ex-showroom price | ₹5,80,600 |
| Road taxMaharashtra rate for a petrol car at this price | ₹63,866 |
| State cess2% road safety cess, charged on the tax rather than on the price. | ₹1,277 |
| Registration | ₹600 |
| Number plate (HSRP) | ₹800 |
| FASTag | ₹500 |
| Third-party insurance (3 years)Fixed by IRDAI. A new car must buy three years of cover up front. | ₹12,093 |
| Own-damage insurance (1 year)estimateSet by each insurer, so this is an estimate. Shop it — the spread is wide. | ₹20,553 |
| On-road, approximately | ₹6,80,289 |
₹6,59,736 of that is fixed by rule — the price, the state’s tax, and the third-party premium IRDAI sets. The remaining ₹20,553 is own-damage insurance, which every insurer prices differently. It is the one line worth shopping, and the reason we show it separately instead of folding it into a single number.
Road tax is levied by the state, so every city in Maharashtra pays the same rate — picking Mumbai rather than Pune does not change the figure above. What does differ between cities is the dealer’s own handling charges, and any municipal levy.
